TRUE NORTH national anthem

Hey everyone!

If you havent heard yet we the fans of the Jets yell TRUE NORTH! during the anthem when the line "true north strong and free" comes up. Its a huge shout out to our owners and also gives us something unique and makes the anthem entertaining!

I'm all about connecting "True North" to the anthem.

That's where it comes from, and should be one of the calling cards of our team.

But this doesnt need to get stickied, fans will catch on and it'll become a tradition or it'll disappear quickly. These things can't be overly forced or they seem insincere. And did you really need to post three times within the first 5 posts??

Anyway, I like the idea True North and yes I have heard it yelled at Moose games. I especially love the power play pass counter.. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... random person yells, "SHOOT!", 6, 7... lol

I don't think it has any real link. It didn't have much of a connection to the Thrashers as the IHL Knights were only really in common because they played in the same city. They have nothing to do with the jets.

I've been following this Jets saga from Pittsburgh ever since jetsowner.com started but idk...you guys might as well yell "McDonalds", or "PNC Bank" and give another corporation free advertising.

TRUE NORTH Anthem

TRUE NORTH has a double meaning. It's also named after the leadership concept talked about by Stephen Covey in his books. True North means to use a moral compass as your guide, not whatever way the wind blows. These leadership concepts were huge when Chipman was first putting together True North. It's also totally the way True North runs their business. You can see the principles in the way they go about their business and the way they treat people. The little notch at the top of the emblem which is the north point on the compass is a symbol which has been used in this regards. If you understand these concepts you will understand why the team is in good hands, and why we will have a great and classy NHL organization for years to come.
For instance it shows the long term thinking of going with a guy Claude Noel they know well, as opposed to Ramsay who while he might be a good coach and have provided consistency for a short term gain going forward, but they don't know well enough to understand if he fits in with the True North principles.

So... Is this happening?

I would sincerely hope that almost everyone knows our national anthem... I give some leeway if you've just moved from another country, but it's not hard to learn.

I still know 3 different prayers from my horrible year in a Catholic school. That was kinda OT, but hey.

I doubt you'll be able to project "True North" any louder than the place will be singing, but good luck sirs/ma'ams.

Most of Canada doesn't know the French part, haha. It's not a direct translation of the English part either.
