If Jacobs and Bradshaw can stay healthy, and Manning and Nicks continue to click....my big blue G-Men could surprise a few people this year.

I'm predicting that the Lions make the playoffs this year, and that the Ravens will beat the Eagles at the Superbowl.

Heck yes!

My Titans on't make the playoffs, but as long as they stay competitive and hit .500 I'll be a happy camper. The Titans are building for the future, so it's not about this season.

**** yeah, Bills baby! (I know, I know...)

Excited to watch a hopefully healthy Merriman, and interested to see improvements made by Spiller.

And of course looking forward to watching my favourite player in the league, Vick. I don't have the same hate for the Eagles as I do other Philly teams.

With Rex Grossman and John Beck fighting for the starting QB gig, I doubt it. It's going to be another long season in Washington, but at least the defense should be fun to watch.

After watching a couple of preseason games, got to say..I freaking hate the new kickoff rule, they took out an exciting part of the game. Probably we will see 70% of the kickoffs ending up in touchbacks .

Yep.
Raiders are going to lead the league in touchbacks, easy.
Janikowski + an extra 5 yards = zero kickoff return TD's against Oakland all year.

Unfortunately, the 'Skins are my team. I think the only thing we have to look forward to this year is a high pick, where we can hopefully draft a good young QB and a couple of receivers for the first time in about a jillion years. And hopefully our D can put a big time hurtin' on Michael Vick (aka the dog killer).

That's a MASSIVE if.

For those in the know, a young team to keep an eye on is the tampa bay Buccaneers. Led by one of the top 3 young QB's in the league, with an excellent young receiving core, young D line, a physical beast of a running back. This is a team building something great.

Hopefully we will see the Lions FSU this year!!

They will have every opportunity to do well this year.

Stafford, Best,Johnson,Burleson, Davis, Pettigrew, Harrison all leading their offense Plus Vandenbosche, Delmas,Houston, and Suh on D will bring the heat to any offense in the league.

That team has the potential to do great things this year if they can stay healthy, and find a way to beat the Packers.

I'm predicting a 10-6 wildcard berth.

I'm not saying that the Lions aren't getting better, they're clearly not the joke of a team they've been for the past decade, throughout the Millen era.... I definitely like the direction the team is going in this year.

That being said, they play in the NFC North, possibly the toughest division in the NFL. With the Lions really raising their game, there are no slouches left in the division, and every game is going to be a war.

I'd even be so bold as to say the Bears are going to be the last-place team in that division this year. However, the division is CLEARLY the Packers to lose, and I'd put the Vikings ahead of the Lions in the final standings.

1) The Defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers
2) Vikings
3) Lions
4) Bears

I'd say if the Lions hit 8-9 wins this season, they should be pleased with the progress, and know that they'll only get better for the 2012 season.

The only way I see the Lions making the playoffs is if Stafford is healthy all season long, and the defensive line keeping the games close for them. Just have to add that Suh is a ****ing beast.

I think they're definitely a declining team, but as much as I hate them, I give them one more good shot at a 9-9 or 10-6 year before the wheels come off completely and they have to rebuild. I think McNabb has enough left in the tank for one more mediocre year. This'll be Minnesota's last hurrah.

I tell you this much: The 2013 Vikings are going to be an absolute train-wreck.

Starting in 2012, it's going to be a good 5 year stretch of Packers & Lions at the top of the NFC North. I think the Lions are going to need one more year to get there, though.

I've been a big Chiefs fans forever, and its soooo nice to have a good team again. The team should take the division again (**** you Broncos and Chargers) and run for about 250 + yards per game AGAIN. Our D looks solid too. I have a brand new stitched official Jamaal Charles jersey, delivered straight from KC ready for my Sunday ritual.

Always loved the Ravens too. Ray Lewis is my favourite player of all time and I have a couple of his jerseys hanging in my closet (beside Ed Reed and Todd Heap).

It would be awesome if those teams met in the AFC final but I have a feeling the Pats will have something to say about that.

no doubt that the NFC North is one of the toughest divisions,

That said, if healthy, the Lions have some pretty scary weapons, and are one of the most dangerous teams in the league, and at this point are far superior to the Favre and Rice less Vikings.

...heck even last year without VandenBosche and Stafford and Best in the lineup they gave the Packers a run for their money in a 28-26 loss at Lambeau........and topped it off with a 7-3 win over the Pack at Ford Field later in the year with a depleted lineup.

If it wasn't such a tough division they were playing in, they would be a clear cut favourite to make noise in the playoffs.

I'll just say that I HOPE the Vikings are last in the division. Bandwagon PetersonVikings fans are some of the most annoying fans out there.

I still think they've got the best chance at 2nd in the div. Too many veterans on that team who still have a lot left in the tank. McNabb doesn't have to be great for them to have an OK year, he just has to be average.

IF Stafford can protect his shoulder and stay healthy all year, and their young impact guys can develop faster than expected, they could make a run for 2nd. I can see it happening, I'm just not expecting it. This year, at least.

Bears are a mess. They have a turnover machine at QB, their o-line can't stop a cold, and the defense can still be consistently beat through the air. Haven't addressed their clear need for a game-changing option at WR (Roy Williams? haha...). The one dominant part of their game, Special Teams, just took a huge hit with the new kickoff rules.

DukeNukem

What is the new kick-off return rule? I love the pack and see them even better this year than last. They will own the division, vikings and bears will take years to recover from their respective QB disasters. I'll wait and see on the Lions. As for everybody else, it's the usual suspects, Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Saints, and ummm, Giants...naw forget it.

What bears defense is top 5 in the league. Specail teams may have took a hit, but yet to see what happens with the new rule. Most of cutlers interceptions are due to the receivers if it wasn't for a weak o line he would look a lot better.

Roy Williams had a pro bowl year in martz's system which is what the bears currently use.

I think they'll go 9-7 challenge for a wild card.

Lions are being massively underrated here, if healthy, they are a better team then the Bears and Vikes already, and are the only team in that division that can beat the Packers this year(just look what they did last season with an injury riddled team against them).

I'm seeing the exact opposite. All I see are some fantasy hounds drooling over players in skill positions but ignoring that the O and D lines are still pretty weak relative to their division. They're improving but they are of no threat to any contender right now.

BonkTastic
08-14-2011, 01:24 PM
What bears defense is top 5 in the league.
Never said their D as a whole is bad. Their run D is really quite fantastic. Their pass rush is quite effective. Their secondary is pretty frigging awful. If your O-line can hold up over 4 quarters against the pass rush and you can get the ball up in the air against the Bears, you've got a really good chance at beating them. Their pass D was in the bottom third in the league last year, and doesn't look any better this year.

Most of cutlers interceptions are due to the receivers if it wasn't for a weak o line he would look a lot better.
His INT numbers weren't great in Denver, when he had some DAMNED good receivers and a fabulous O-line. Half of his INT's are just awful throws, with no fault on his receivers.
That being said, he was sacked 52 times last year. FIFTY TWO. And somehow, the Bears O-line managed to get WORSE this offseason. I don't see Cutler having a fantastic year. In fact, if he even moderately approaches last year's sack numbers, I won't be surprised if he misses some games via injury this year. Is Caleb Hanie still the backup?

Roy Williams had a pro bowl year in martz's system which is what the bears currently use.
The same Roy Williams that hasn't had over 600 receiving yards since 2008? Who has dropped VERY catch-able balls over the past 3 years? I think Williams will do better than he did in Dallas, He's a MUCH better fit for Cutler than he was with Romo, but he's not "the answer". He runs terrible routes, and he's slowed down A TON since he played in Detroit. That's a bad combination.

I think they'll go 9-7 challenge for a wild card.
I think that's a best-case scenario for Chicago this year. They're not an awful team, but I think they're the worst in a VERY strong division.

overrating?...don't think so.

They finished 6-10 last year with a depleted lineup in one of the toughest divisions to play in, almost every game that they lost last year was by a very close score and could have gone either way, they have a lot of weapons, and if healthy, they have potential to do a whole lot of damage this year.

aside from the Packers, the division has gotten weaker...and the Lions have gotten better.

I think a lot of those TD's are when the game was already lost though.

Yeah, but with Evans gone, I think it makes defending the Bills even easier than last year.

Like all bad teams, the Bills have an uncanny ability to lose close games. I still think they'll be worse than Miami.
