    Whatever you say.

I just don't get what the fuss is all about. If Crosby and Ovechkin with UFA's - Holy ****. Their cap hits would likely be near the maximum salary.

Kovalchuk got what he got because he was available. He's "worth" it.

I just hope he lasers the Queen tomorrow.

    I see what you did.

Kovalchuk: Nine points in his last nine games.

He's been playing like Ilya Kovalchuk, mainly because he's been playing under a real coach. He was crippled by MacLean, much like the rest of this team.

Kovalchuk for Rupp! It'd be so perfect because Rupp could get his old number back.

About 90% of the reason I want a win tomorrow is because I'll be at the game in Newark Friday night and the Rock will be fun as hell as a result.

The fans always seem to come out to home games immediately following road wins. It's always a good time.

Yep. The Angry Video Game Nerd kills me. Too funny.

    Kovalchuk: The Renaissance

He'll learn that if you want to thrive in NJ, you need to play both ends of the ice. Period.

Look what happened when MacLean tried to institute an offense-first system. Barf.

    Oomff. Low blow.

(Well, he did get six points in five playoff games this past April. Also, and you might think this sounds crazy, but Kovalchuk has actually been going to Lemaire and asking him to help him become better defensively, and I'll be damned if he hasn't looked more competent in the Devils' end over these past few weeks. It'll be a process, but I'm optimistic.)

With that said, Ilya Kovalchuk under $7M is, quite frankly, a bargain. Yes, he's playing like **** this year and has third-line stats, but hell, the entire team has been playing like ****. (Kovy is actually leading the Devils in goals as of now.)

I'm giving the likes of Kovalchuk, Tallinder, and Clarkson a pass on this season. I refuse to judge those signings based off of 33 games under John "Ya Know" MacLean. Hell, said three players have been playing MUCH better under Lemaire, and Kovalchuk has been playing with a PPG during this little 6-1-1 stretch the Devils had.

I will admit Sather's recent success as a GM, but nothing will stop me from laughing at the fact that a man who had a cap hit roughly $500,000 lower than that of Ilya Kovalchuk is currently wearing an AHL jersey.

Both teams have great prospects, many of whom are underrated, to boot.

The future of the Battle of the Hudson is bright.
