The bigger problem is he got nobody worthwhile to replace Dubinsky, Anisimov, Prust and Fedetenko. Rolling 4 lines is an important thing and when your third and fourth lines can hold their own and maintain the team's momentum then your team is going to do well. Last year's third and fourth lines were a disaster almost from the beginning. There's too much age and not enough skating. The forecheck game of 2011-12 pretty much disappeared. Lucic is a very rare combination of skill and size and toughness and I don't think his release is slow. He is also very nimble for a guy of his size.

He does not have hands of lightning, but slow he ain't. His reactions on the puck are excellent.

So far, to me, Kreider doesn't seem to have that much hockey sense. Great skater and strength, so he will be a solid NHL player. He might become more, but who knows.

Comparing the two players is pretty much apples and oranges in terms of their styles at this point.. I've not seen nearly enough of what I want from Kreider yet. I will say that his shot is impressive. Quick, hard, accurate.
