It looks like Roy really has not come to do a rebuild.

And there is always the chance that Jones bombed in the interviewing process. I won't lie. I wanted Jones but everytime he talked, I got an uneasy feeling. I never really believed that he wanted the Avs. He came across distant and way too professional for his age IMO.

The contracts people are getting are completely insane. I don't understand how this model can work long term unless the cap ceiling skyrockets. I understand that will not happen at all considering the owner owns both the Trailblazers and the Rose Garden, though he lives in fear thinking a hockey team will steal from his NBA club in terms of fanbase/money. Sadly if he ever brought an NHL team his overall revenue would freakin triple right off the bat because the people of Portland actually like and care about hockey; considering how loyal they are with the Winterhawks.

I just think Seattle will be too close to Vancouver and majority of those games will be flooded with Nuck fans like with Habs/Leaf fans make their way down the Florida. I also think that this will happen to a degree with Edmonton and Calgary fans as well. Last, the people of Seattle and the city care much more about an NBA team than a NHL team while Portland would embrace them much more. Seattle plans to build an arena for the future basketball team while hockey will be second rate, why would NHL want to go to Seattle? If I was Bettman I would try long and hard to negoiate to Portland.

I do feel sorry for Quebec City a little bit because they care so much about hockey it's easier for Bettman to sell an expansion franchise in that area than it is to Seattle.
