This is obviously decided before the season starts as to the length of the final series. Edmonton-Portland WHL final just happened, and that's an over 15-hour bus ride. Worst case would have been Brandon, which would have been nearly a 24 hour bus ride from Portland.

Again, I'm not trying to knock the league. But Best-of-7 is the standard in any league, and the USHL is trying to be taken seriously. Am I the only one that sees this as strange?

Well with Wenatchee now moving to the Rio Grande Valley the South will jump to seven teams and as has been pointed out there would be only 3 West Div teams. I can see the league potentially going back to a three division league as it was in the past.

That would mean Fairbanks and Kenai River moving back into the South Div and I see the potential for Fresno moving out of the league. The addition of the two Alaska teams would make the South 9 teams.

With the Minnesota Magicians and Minnesota Wilderness joining the league the Central Division grows to 8 teams.

With Kalamazoo going dormant the North Division would drop to 7 teams.

Hello Niki,

I would say it depends on what you want to better in your game.
As you, youself state, they practice a lot more in Sweden, and they focus a lot on the tactical aspects of the game aswell as defence. Not as much in NA.

What you will get in NA, is exposure to the smaller rinks, and a more physical offense minded game.

There have been a few Danes who went to NAHL, but most succesfull Danish Hockey players, have gone thru Sweden and they all credit the Swedish system for their Succes.

Lars Eller (Montreal Canadiens) - Jr. Team: Frölunda
Mikkel Boedker (Phoenix Coyotes)- Jr. Team: Frölunda
Peter Regin (Ottawa Senators) - Jr. Team: Timrå
Frans Nielsen (NYI) - Jr. Team: Malmö
Jannik Hansen (Vancouver) - Jr. Team: Malmö
Philip Larsen (Dallas Stars) - Jr. Team: Rögle - Frölunda
Oliver Lauridsen (Philedelphia Flyers) - Jr. Team: Rögle - Linköping

All went thru Sweden before going to NA.

Only NHL player that did not go thru Sweden before NA is Nicklas Jensen (Vancouver) However he did play in Sweden (SEL) during the Lockout(AIK).

Oliver Björkstrand, 2013 draft eligable also went straight to NA, WHL.

So I would also say Choose Sweden, and get a feel of your own level before you move to NA :)

Good luck.

When the Wenatchee-BCHL issue came up again, I wondered if the BCHL was going to be the same issue it was last year. It's theoretically that way again... except the league's justification might be more solid.

http://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2...aded-to-texas/

Yes, this would be part of the proceedings leading up to Wenatchee BCHL, but there's no lease in Wenatchee for BCHL availability at this moment.

While I'd hope someone else could take up a contract with the city of Wenatchee, that doesn't seem likely. There are indications that Bill Stewart got a sweetheart deal in Texas, and that he was running low on funds to be a BCHL owner... if that makes sense.

This puts Wenatchee hockey between a rock and a hard place. The NAHL wasn't manageable in that location without a lot of close competition. Town Toyota Center is too big for NORPAC or even AWHL (I've seen that rumor)... probably the same for WSHL. It wouldn't be the smallest WHL building, but certainly the smallest in the US Division with practically no way to get a current team unless it can be poached from another US city. It's also too small a market- and more importantly too far from a good airport- to consider the ECHL. It's really the right size for BCHL. Sad.
