2011/2012 Prospects Thread

If you guys get a chance take in a Boston College game and keep an eye on number 13. Johnny Gradreau was filthy in his second college game tonight. He had a goal and 2 or 3 assists. He gains some weight and you'll have a 5'7 forward in your lineup in about 4 years. Haven't seen a freshman do what he did tonight in a long time.

I agree, but Billy Arnold isn't a slouch either. He played pretty darn well in both games.

Two Flames prospects out of Boston College that had a great weekend! :handclap:

Great to hear, outside of Baertschi and Reinhart he is the next Flames prospect I am most excited about. He has a lot of obstacles to overcome due to his size, but I am glad to hear he is doing so well.

Do you know what his weight is currently listed at?

Looking at the poll of the old thread, a new one was long overdue.

But Lundmark is better offensively! Maybe we could try him in between Iggy and Tangs...

He'd be better than Moss there!

5'7 150 :)

Pretty tiny. I think he's going to make it though. He's such a slick skater its going to be tough for guys to get a solid check on him. Against North Dakota, he took the puck behind the net with speed, a defenseman was right on him. He did a spin-o-rama on a dime, lost the defenseman and the second he came out of the spin the puck was already on a teammates stick in front of the net for a bang in goal. It was something. I read a recap that called it "Gretzky like." You can tell he's a competitor and won't let his size stand in the way.

Great stuff!! Please post as many updates like this as you would like. I'm sure I speak for the majority of posters on the Flames board that we would all like to hear positives like this about our prospects. I hope you are right and that he does make it. He will definitley need to add some strength though, and hopefully he also grows at least another inch or two. :handclap:

BCF, the updates are greatly appreciated. He's really a long term project, but if he ever pans out, I think we'll have a hell of a player. Gamble on enough boom-or-bust type players in the later rounds, and you'll hit a few eventually.

Markus Granlund (2nd round pick 2011) with his first FEL goal. He has now 1+3 in 6 games so far.

MaG's goal.

Thanks for the update, i've been trying to pay attention to him as much as possible but its tough here in Canada. Updates are always appreciated.

What I`m excited about is this is probably the most actitivity our prospect thread has seen in some time, and this while the NHL season is going on! Baertschi and Reinhart are off to good starts also.

King Of The North 10-13-2011 08:19 PM

Irving's got 2 wins, and a shutout!

Here's the highlights from last weeks Boston College game.

There stats from this game have already been posted, but here they are :

#13 - Johnny Guadreau - 1G, 3A, 4P
#24 - Bill Arnold - 1G, 2A, 3P

Thanks for sharing that video. Gaudreau's spin move behind the net was a sick play. You cannot teach that, a player either has that ability or he doesn't. I am really glad we drafted this guy, if he puts on a little more size it looks like he could be the steal of that draft. I would really like to see him on a line with Reinhart and Baertschi next training camp.

Calculon 10-14-2011 08:19 PM

Didn't know where else to post this, so I'm posting it here.

Just noticed couple of NHL drafted players - CGY's John Negrin and OTT's Louie Caporusso - assigned to ECHL, Utah & Elmira, respectively.

Wow, Negrin has really fallen off the radar. Matt Pelech 2.0?

Was he injured?

Great numbers by Baertschi! Obviously the experience of an NHL training camp is translating well to his game in Juniors. I fully expect him to be in the Flames lineup next season.

Bärtschi named WHL player of the week.
