The Caps have converted 30.4 percent (7 of 23) of their man-advantage chances against the Pens during the last eight meetings while holding Pittsburgh to 9.1 percent (3 for 33).

The Penguins, who led the league in penalty kill percentage (86.1) last season, have yet to allow a power-play goal in 16 chances this season.

Blades of steel 10-13-2011 09:17 AM

4-2 Caps, Ovechkin scores tonight.

Devil Dancer 10-13-2011 09:22 AM

Will they still get up for the Pens with Geno and Sid out?

They did last year.

You'll see me watching at Glory Days. Still have tickets for free wings. Go Caps!

If they don't then we have serious problems
This is professional sports...that shouldn't even be a question

ChibiPooky 10-13-2011 09:35 AM

If not, Bruce better put on his benching pants.

Devil Dancer 10-13-2011 09:36 AM

I think it's a legitimate question. The Caps have clearly been fired up in previous regular season meetings with the Pens over the last few years, and the Caps have dominated as a result. Will that continue? Can they keep the intensity up when there's really nothing left to prove in the regular season?

strungout 10-13-2011 09:40 AM

Ill be honest.

I hope Crosby tries to play tonight.

And someone puts him through the glass.

Blades of steel 10-13-2011 09:40 AM

With BB holding accountability over players heads, Vokoun wanting another shot to redeem himself, and the overall past between these two teams, I predict a strong game. Regardless if Crosby and Malkin are out or not. One would hope anyway.

So you're saying that because we beat a team in previous years we don't have to play hard?

Mothra 10-13-2011 09:55 AM

OT in terms of tonights game but......

historically the Caps have (almost) always come up on the short end in the playoffs against them....but....

i feel the biggest upset between these two was the only time the Caps won the series.

Am I totally out of it with that thinking?

hoopla 10-13-2011 09:55 AM

Crosby cleared for contact. waiting to hear if he'll be in the line up after their practise is done.

Lol the refs will be skating with whistles in their mouths all game, oh boy here we go.

hyzer23 10-13-2011 10:00 AM

Holtby posted a 10-2-2 record with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage in 14 games....he should start tonight

Small sample sizes like that don't mean a ton for what you should expect.

If Neuvirth is out for a few games then Holtby deserves a start, no doubt (if nothing else to groom him for a heavier NHL load next season) but giving him a start tonight, right away, would be a bit much. Vokoun might play better in a bounce-back chance than Holtby would in his first callup of the season.

Indeed.

See how willing he is to get hit after the concussion episode.

He has his own league, country, and network (nutting but crisby) Private ref - its assumed by now.

I still  remembering the NBC games when Ovi was flat out dominating the league. Every intermission was a special on the kid. I am still surprised how slow the media took to Ovi in America. Mario and his marketing plan still at work I suppose.

I wonder how many times he got the hose again in the basement.

mrwarden 10-13-2011 10:26 AM

I hope he plays, but I doubt it. You don't go 10 months after a concussion just to throw him into enemy fire the first day he's cleared.

Especially in the 2nd week of the season when your team is winning. Let him get bumped around in practice, then work him into a game.

Plus this Pittsburgh staff took some criticism for playing him in the Tampa game, so they're likely to be pretty gunshy.

Capitlols 10-13-2011 10:32 AM

3-2 Pens. Ovechkin struggles, 3rd line continues dominance, and defensive lapses.

No he shouldn't. Vokoun should get a chance to redeem himself.
