I think it's a legitimate question. The Caps have clearly been fired up in previous regular season meetings with the Pens over the last few years, and the Caps have dominated as a result. Will that continue? Can they keep the intensity up when there's really nothing left to prove in the regular season?

With BB holding accountability over players heads, Vokoun wanting another shot to redeem himself, and the overall past between these two teams, I predict a strong game. Regardless if Crosby and Malkin are out or not. One would hope anyway.

historically the Caps have (almost) always come up on the short end in the playoffs against them....but....

i feel the biggest upset between these two was the only time the Caps won the series.

Small sample sizes like that don't mean a ton for what you should expect.

If Neuvirth is out for a few games then Holtby deserves a start, no doubt (if nothing else to groom him for a heavier NHL load next season) but giving him a start tonight, right away, would be a bit much. Vokoun might play better in a bounce-back chance than Holtby would in his first callup of the season.

I still :facepalm: remembering the NBC games when Ovi was flat out dominating the league. Every intermission was a special on the kid. I am still surprised how slow the media took to Ovi in America. Mario and his marketing plan still at work I suppose.

I hope he plays, but I doubt it. You don't go 10 months after a concussion just to throw him into enemy fire the first day he's cleared.

Especially in the 2nd week of the season when your team is winning. Let him get bumped around in practice, then work him into a game.

Plus this Pittsburgh staff took some criticism for playing him in the Tampa game, so they're likely to be pretty gunshy.
