I would think that Beaulieu would have at least made the Top 40, but whatever.

Et le But 10-13-2011 10:11 AM

Beaulieu should be in the top 50, probably not any of the others.

The Kremelin Wall* 10-13-2011 10:16 AM

Would have been nice to see Gallagher or Beaulieu on there, since Scheifele made it on entirely thanks to his training camp.

Blow up the team !

No, but seriously some of the writers are terrible.

otto bond 10-13-2011 10:38 AM

Doesn't sound great for us Habs fan. I also think that there are some anti habs antics here.

hototogisu 10-13-2011 10:41 AM

I guarantee Leblanc will have a longer NHL career than some of the names listed there.

Bullsmith 10-13-2011 10:44 AM

Leblanc's injuries have kept him out of contention for a slot in the top 50. Fair enough. Based on what I saw of Beaulieu, I expect him to be on the list this time next year. To be fair, almost none of the Habs best prospects are pro yet. What talent we do have hasn't peaked yet in terms of this kind of ranking. Still, HANG ONTO THEM PICKS PLEASE, M. GAUTHIER.

shutehinside 10-13-2011 10:51 AM

Beaulieu and Gallagher could easily have been on that list.
LeBlanc and Tinordi to a lesser extent IMO.

zzoo 10-13-2011 10:56 AM

I'm dreaming a day that we will have a star forward.
On individual plan, our players (especially forward) have been very ordinary for years, and sadly it won't change in the near future :(

Leblanc, Palushaj, Atvsin ?!?? :(

These ratings are... strange. But he could be right, since ranking prospects is a complete crapshoot. A prospect no one has ever heard about could turn out to be a top player. o/

Definitely.

I think that Kristo and Gallagher will be on that list later on.

McDonagh is there.

Oh look, Kreider and osefson are there.. two guys I wanted before Louis Leblanc. ;)

LeBlanc should be there as should Beaulieu. The problem with HF is that it's a fan site, fans see players different than scouts or GM's. I think LeBlanc was around #30 on the TSN Future Watch which is compiled with a pannel of scouts. I'm sure if he had eye popping numbers in the Q that he would be there.

It's a joke that Kreider is there. The 8th leading scorer on his college team. I'll take Leblanc any day of the week over him and twice on Sundays, more skill and more hockey sense.

Strik_IX 10-13-2011 12:07 PM

Meh, our best prospects graduated recently.

As a few stated before, Beaulieu, Leblanc and Gallagher could all be in there, but who cares? It's just a list.

Clipitar 10-13-2011 12:18 PM

Having Oleksiak and Klefbom ahead of Tinordi and Beaulieu screams anti-habs bias to me, but I guess that's just me being a homer...

Mathradio 10-13-2011 12:55 PM

Beaulieu would have been #40 or so. Leblanc would be in the #50-60 range.

This is a place where Josh Harding was consistently ranked higher than Carey Price in the top 50 even with Price's accomplishments in junior, WJC, etc. It says it all.

No big deal, we don't really have any big name prospects, and outside of Beaulieu I don't think we have any prospects that scream elite talent. Add to that, the Habs just had a number of guys move up from the AHL last year in Pac, Desharnais, Weber, and White. When your NHL team has a 24 and under of Subban, Price, Pacioretty, Desharnais, White, Weber your farm system will likely be drained a bit.

On top of that, putting together a list of the top 50 prospects is very hard to do, I know I was asked to do it when I covered the Habs for HF and I couldn't as I feel I know the Hab prospects very well for the most part (not so much the Euros which can be tough to watch their games) but when I watch games with prospects in it, I really just focus on the Hab prospects so I don't feel I could correctly rank a bunch of other teams prospects. So any top 50 list is going to be very subjective and should be taken with a grain of salt.

hogtownhabsfan* 10-13-2011 01:04 PM

I don't think it's anti habs bias, just a year where we're in between prospect wise. Next year we could easily have 3 guys on that list, possibly as many as 5.

FlyingKostitsyn 10-13-2011 01:59 PM

I'm a bit surprised Beaulieu didn't make it. I think they used to overvalue Habs prospects and now underrate them.

Teufelsdreck 10-13-2011 05:04 PM

I'm with the posters who say they don't care. In the past the Habs have had a number of prospects who were in the top 50 but didn't succeed in the NHL. In addition, many prospects who are lightly thought of at first have long pro careers.

LeBlanc is highly thought of in hockey circles but not as much on HF. Grit, work ethic and being a solid all around player is worth a lot more to an NHL team than to fans.
