I had a feeling he was going to do it. We’re all pretty relieved for Mike Richards to beat Philly. He made a great play. He played a great game. He’s a world-class player. Same thing on both game-winning goals, really. I had the easy job, just going to the back post and trying to get lost back there. Richards made two great plays. We’ve been on the road for something like 16 days and we only got two road games out of it. So it’s going to be nice getting on the plane to go home, for sure."

I’ve been cheered. You just go out there and play once the puck is dropped. That’s the easiest thing to do, is go out there and play hockey. It’s nice to see us get the win."

We talk about this all the time, with our first game back after a long road trip, that that game is hard, emotionally. You’ve got to find a way to dig down very deep and help your teammates and push each other up and support each other throughout the game and get it done with the right level of intensity and compete."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

oh its this team, anything less than a blowout by the Blues will be positive

DAkings20 10-18-2011 12:22 AM

North American Home Opener.

Boys should be pumped and the crowd should be equally as pumped. It's the first game back in almost a month and those games usually don't go well for the home team, Kings needs to play a full 60.

Go Slava! and Go Kings Go!

Oh Snap 10-18-2011 12:22 AM

Kryptonite meet Superman.

Just win boys. Go Kings! :yo:

Ollie Weeks 10-18-2011 12:34 AM

If we can only win one game against the Blues this season (entirely possible), let it be the home opener.

This. Slava's NHL debut, make it a memorable one

King'sPawn 10-18-2011 01:28 AM

The Kings usually suck against the Blues. Coupled this with the Blues' atrocious powerplay and penalty kill, I'm expecting the Blues to score 3 powerplay goals and for the Kings not to score a powerplay goal.

kingsholygrail 10-18-2011 04:36 AM

Just win. Need I say more?

BigBrown 10-18-2011 06:39 AM

My impression from last season is that the Kings usually play very flat at home after a long road trip.

Butch 19 10-18-2011 08:27 AM

Blues 2

Voynov is # 26,
Fraser on IR is #24,
And the Kings are wearing their new White Jerseys tonight:yo:

The Tikkanen 10-18-2011 10:26 AM

What a great luxury to lose your top offensive defensemen and have Martinez and Voynov sitting there waiting for ice time. The Kings can still have 3 quality offensive and stay at home on each pairing, Lombardi's done a great job.

They are also usually flat the last game of a long road trip. They turned that around in Philly.

And don't forget last year, the Kings didn't have the Terminator (Mike Richards). His first game in front of the home town fans...he'll be jacked up and flyin' out there.

I think for the first 3 games he had that game against the Flyers in his head. He'll deny it, but I saw a difference in him Sat night., like a weight was lifted He morphed into the leader and shift dominator I've seen for years here in Philly. Running his mouth both directions at teammates and taunting the Flyers (esp the debate with Rinaldo by the Flyers bench, the more Richards yapped at him the madder Rinaldo got, then Richards just smirked at him and skated away- it was great!), hitting Vorachek and using his uncanny ice vision in the OZ and blocking shots, etc.
With that game behind him, I think you'll see a more complete game from him . I wish his wingers shared his vision, he's so fast and slick, Gagne was the one winger he had that 'got' him and put in the goals off his moves.

Kopi and Richards PK- I love this partnering. (King of Diamonds Kopi and King of Hearts Richards) Richards already is much feared PK demon (and 23 shorities in 6 years to show for it) and pairing him up with Kopi will strike fear in the hearts of most teams. Don't think that won't be crossing into the pointmen's heads when they are deciding how to pass the puck.

Looking for a solid effort tonight and a good win in regulation by a couple goals.

The law of averages has to go the other way for a change.

The Kings just can't keep losing to StL.

The Kings will win tonite (with no stress even!)

Yeah, the Kings have not been too kind to their fans in some of the home openers in recent years.
