Record at Halloween vs. making the playoffs

Here is actually an interesting post by Eklund regarding how important the first month of the season is if a team hopes to make the playoffs. After the last two stinkers by the Isles, I'd say we can officially start worrying.....

I've been thinking about this.

It seems the Isles (usually) do quite well in Oct and Nov and most of Dec, but, then start a massive slide where they need to try and fight to get back into the playoff hunt.

I know I'm not the only one who noticed this trend.

Well, it was the complete opposite of that last year (other than a good 4 game start in October). Tough to say what will happen, but this team needs to be able to win games under pressure.

Actually our slide usually begins right after October.

+1 on this... definitely been a second half team. They need to learn how to play with desperation every night like a young team should (ala Chicago did).

After that 5-3 against Florida at the end of the game I realized that the Isles do need a playmaking veteran to ground them and not get them antsy. That powerplay looked to jacked up and they couldn't just settle down and do what they do best, especially like the first two goals. I felt at least a point should have come from that game.
