Boston looking to make a "shake up" trade

In the first intermission of the Leafs Rangers game, McKenzie said that Boston is looking to make a trade to try to get out of this "hangover"

Any thoughts on who is available?

Leafs are interested for sure ... and we are somehow going to send over Kadri, our 1st, Gardiner, Schenn and the rest of our future ..

Ray Whitney to the Bruins seems to be a popular suggestion as of late. I doubt he'll be available until the deadline though, if he's even available at all. Whitney's too important to the Coyotes right now and he has a NMC so he has total control of where he goes.

This, whose available?

Pinkfloyd 10-27-2011 07:36 PM

Wasn't the Joe Thornton trade a shake up trade? Sharks would welcome another one of those if the B's don't mind now that they got their Cup. lol

Highly... HIGHLY.... doubt that Ray waives to go anywhere that he can't play golf on a semi-regular basis. You think that I am kidding. The guy already has a cup ring.

When I think about it more, I feel the Bruins are just in a bit of a funk right now. I don't know if I'd panic just yet. The roster is incredibly similar to last year's. They didn't make many major changes in the offseason. I can see why they'd want to shake things up a bit, but I don't think they'll make any significant moves right now just for the sake of doing so.

Subtracted:

RW Mark Recchi
D Tomas Kaberle
D Shane Hnidy

Added:

LW Benoit Pouliot
D Joe Corvo

Really not much change.

Blackhawkswincup 10-27-2011 07:54 PM

To Bruins
LW Viktor Stalberg

To Hawks
5th round pick

Should send shockwaves thru lockerroom :sarcasm:

I could see Bourque to Boston. Caron and Knight are really good players, but personally I would prefer Spooner. Spooner, 1st and 3rd round pick and you have a deal.

I Hate Chris Butler 10-27-2011 07:57 PM

Bourque is not worth a 1st, a 3rd, and a prospect.

Dustin Penner was and Bourque isn't? Bourque is far better than Penner. Big, power forwards return a premium.

I would still probably do it without the 3rd, but I think that is market value.

Lombardi was bent over in that trade. I don't necessarily think the offer was Penner's worth, just that the Kings were stupid enough to make it.

Robert Theodorson 10-27-2011 08:14 PM

Thomas for Luongo

The Penner trade was made at the deadline, big power forwards like Penner and Bourque'a value are at an all time high leading up to the deadline because teams are gearing up for the playoffs. Those types of players are so hard to come by. There appears to be alot of teams interested in Bourque, if he is a traded it will be for a very nice package.

yes and no

LA thought they could make some noise in the playoffs and thought Penner would put them over the top.
And Penner had two things that Bourque does not have

1) Cup ring
2) Penner has 40 playoff games and Bourque has 5

Flames fans may say that may not mean a lot--but for me those are important things
