World Jr's

What would everyone's opinion be on letting Couturier go to the World Jr's to represent Canada? This would allow him to get big minutes playing against his peers(age). I think it would be good for his development and allow him to get to play some offense minutes since he has been playing 4th line minutes so far. His spot could be filled with a group or 2-3 Phantoms depending on who they want up...Zac, Z, etc...
Thoughts?

no thanks. it's only gonna tire him out more. we've made the decision to keep him on the big boy squad, we have to stick with it.

DrinkFightFlyers 10-30-2011 02:55 PM

Only if he is not performing well at the NHL level. If he's playing well here, he shouldn't miss games to play for another team.

Haute Couturier 10-30-2011 02:59 PM

I would like to see him go if he is only going to play 4th line minutes with the Flyers.

Shadeslayer813 10-30-2011 03:20 PM

If schenn comes back and knocks him to the 4th line, it would be nice for him to go..other then that. No

ORYX 10-30-2011 06:47 PM

No thanks. I don't see how it can benefit his development going from playing against the best in the world, to playing with the best in the 17-20 age range.

May as well keep him here.

Agreed. I'm not particularly thrilled to see him skating on the 4th with Rinaldo and Shelley like last night, if that's going to be his role and minutes then everyone's better off if he plays with talent at the WJC.

usahockey22flyers 10-30-2011 07:45 PM

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....No thanks......He's learning more at NHL practices then he'd ever be learning with the World Junior Team.

BillyShoe1721 10-30-2011 08:40 PM

No. It's valuable dead space on the salary cap, and don't think it will benefit him much.

Hockeypete49 10-30-2011 08:46 PM

If it shakes out that for some reason he has the possibility to go I do not have a problem with it. But that would most likely mean he is not cutting it up here. Where do the Worlds start in relationship to the 39th game he would play for the Flyers?

flyguys7475 10-30-2011 09:15 PM

I wanted couturier to be sent down just do I can watch my boy dominate the world. I haven't watched a top flyer prospect since JVR. If only I know the flyers would get schenn. I woulda been going nuts

Awesome avatar.

Agreed, no need for him to impress at WJC's if hes already doing it at the senior level.

no benefit for sean

to play for our WJC team. as much as i'd love him, and man we could sure use him. so i wonder who will knock us out, and at what round. USA?Sweden?Russia? or do what have a team that will fly under the radar and get better in the playoff rounds, and win the gold. guess we'll find out in 2 months.:help::help:

DrinkFightFlyers 11-02-2011 03:17 PM

This has nothing really to do with Couturier, but I wish the WJC was more popular in USA. It gets little to no coverage on sports and no one outside of dedicated hockey fans even know what it is. I was in Canada a couple years ago when they were in the finals and I didn't even know the game was on (I was in Toronto to see Rutgers play in the International Bowl). We left the game at half time because we were hammered and Rutgers was winning by like three touchdowns. We walked across the street to this bar and it was packed wall to wall. We assumed it was for the Rutgers game but we looked up and saw the WJC on the tv. The whole place was singing the national anthem and going nuts. It was pretty amazing. You will never see that in America, even if it were the Olympics.
