Rick Nash

So the Columbus Blue Jackets are awful this year.
Maybe Slats can work out a trade to acquire him.

What would you offer for him?
I think its without question Dubinsky and Wolski would need to be involved to make salaries work.

Ih8theislanders 10-30-2011 03:29 PM

Dubinsky+Mcilrath/MDZ+1st + ?

bluecollarblueshirt* 10-30-2011 03:31 PM

dubinsky + MZA + MDZ + a first round + conditional second rounder

broadwayblue 10-30-2011 03:37 PM

I'd give a lot. 27 year old LW with size and skill.

DrSutton* 10-30-2011 03:39 PM

You could offer them all you want, Columbus isn't trading their marketing meal ticket

BlueshirtBlitz 10-30-2011 03:40 PM

I'd kill to have Nash on this team, but I was thinking of a package and realized anything that would be able to get him would be overpayment unless he comes in and scores 40+ goals, which he's only done once (albeit he scored 38 one year.)

I really like Rick Nash, but if I was GM and Scott Howson called me and said Nash was available, I don't know what i'd do.

Inferno 10-30-2011 03:41 PM

id do any of the proposals put so far...in a microsecond.

Clowes Line 10-30-2011 03:45 PM

Dubinsky + MDZ + Thomas + 1st/2nd round pick. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Tony D63 10-30-2011 03:49 PM

Dubinsky, Thomas, Anisimov, Bourque, First round pick, Third Round pick, Fifth Round draft pick

Nash, Prospal, Methot

Prospal-Richards-Gaborik
Nash-Stepan-Callahan
Fedotenko-Boyle-Avery
Wolski-Rupp-Prust

Girardi-McD
Sauer-Methot
MDZ-Eminger/Woywitka

Hanke
Marty

Sent Erixon down.

Helps us on the scoring front, and a little on defense.. Columbus gets alot of young assets in AA, Bourque, Thomas, 3 draft picks and a 2/3 liner who does it all.

Watcha think?

This. He is that franchise. It would take a rediculous overpayment and a superstar back for Howson to even think about it. So Gaborik/Lundqvist/Richards would have to be sent the other way. Probably a stud d-man like Girardi, a top prospect and a couple of first rounders too..for them to even consider it.

Aquiring Rick Nash would take more than it's worth, plain and simple.

Dr. Ogrodnick 10-30-2011 03:50 PM

To get Nash you are going to have to overpay.

More like Dubinsky, Mcdonagh, Kreider and a 1st just to get Columbus to not hang up the phone immediately.

DrSutton* 10-30-2011 03:53 PM

And let's be honest here, just because a team is struggling doesnt mean they are going to trade their best player. We're struggling. Do you think other teams are making proposals for Lundqvist?

Nash has 8 points and has barely played with Carter. He's not their problem.

That's probably a reasonably fair deal.

Probably this. Nash is great, but I wouldn't give this up.

No it isn't. Nash's career high is 79 points. You can say all you want about him being on a **** Columbus team, but 79 points is not worth all that. He would immediately thrive with Richards and Gaborik though. You could say based on our need for him, it's a fair deal, but based on what he is worth, it's not fair at all.

Maaxse 10-30-2011 03:56 PM

why would they trade Nash ?

Plus, I like our homegrown defensemen, I wouldn't want to trade them for yet another benemoth contract.

XLJ 10-30-2011 04:01 PM

Jackets would hang up the phone as soon as Wolski get mentioned in any deal for Nash.

Look at what the Flyers got for Richards and Carter. I would think Colombus would expect a similiar return. They will not make a deal with the rangers if Kreider wasn't included. Maybe something like Stepan, Kreider and Erixon would get it done.

Machinehead 10-30-2011 04:07 PM

Stepan, Kreider, MDZ, pick.

Exactly. They're trying to actually add pieces to that team to help Rick Nash- Jeff Carter, Wisniewski, Prospal (for the short-term)- I don't think they would trade him while he is in his prime.

Wolfy* 10-30-2011 04:11 PM

Well if you read the news it looks like the Jackets plan other moves than a trade. Hot rumors say both Howson and coach Arniel are about to get fired, and replaced by Hitchcock and former Flames GM Craig Button, according to local reporters. Those two won the cup with Dallas in 1999.

What kind of a contract did Nash sign with the Jackets anyway, 12 years? Something crazy..

I would prefer not to include McDonagh in that proposed trade above...but I would do Dubinsky, Kreider and a 1st. But that probably doesn't get it done.

Nash scores about 35 goals per year (if you remove his rookie season.) This team could sure use that.

Kershaw 10-30-2011 04:41 PM

Stepan, Wolski, Sauer, 1st.

That isn't getting it done. I mean Wolski is a throw in for salary purposes. I don't see Columbus dealing their franchise player for Stepan, Sauer and a 1st.

This isn't fantasy hockey ladies and gents.

Even with the terrible start and the rumored exit of GM Scott Howson and Arniel why exactly would CBJ be willing to trade the face of the franchise? The guy that puts the butts in the seats? Especially after they went out to get Wiz and Carter. Sure they are still in the process of rebuilding but it's pretty apparent that they want to stay competitive as they continue to grow.

Besides, if this was NHL 12 hockey the one player I'd pay King's ransom for is Loui Eriksson. Long history of success with Brad Richards. He's also proving he doesn't need Brad to be successful. Great two way player. He'd be my target at LW, not another 7 mill a year player.

Would definitely rather give more for Loui Eriksson than Rick Nash. Of course, this is just my opinion....
