NHL.com Early Mock Drafts

Upon first glance, doesn't look too bad.

Surprises to me include

Malcom Subban @ 13 - Hoffner

Phillip Di Guseppe @11.. (Unfamiliar with him, wouldn't mind a small rundown) - Morreale

Faksa @ 15 ^

Matteau @ 8 - Morreale

Galchenyuk @ 2 - Hoffner

Always liked Kimelmans the most.

It seems (from looking at the projected picks by the Wild) that they certainly just ranked players, then someone else applied the current team ranks to it. If they were actually trying to project how those teams would pick, the guy who had the Wild grab a goalie needs to be fired. Immediately. Out of a cannon.

ADAM KIMELMAN'S MOCK DRAFT

STEVEN HOFFNER'S MOCK DRAFT

MIKE MORREALE'S MOCK DRAFT

DuckJet 11-01-2011 04:12 PM

I like Kimmelman's the best on a consistent basis. But I'll refrain from talking smack about Morreale, me and him talk on Twitter, and he really does know his stuff. He just has questionable mock draft picks.

Can't see the Wild taking a goalie in the first 2-3 rounds. 95% sure they'd take a defenseman in the first round.

FrozenJagrt 11-01-2011 04:17 PM

Marcantuoni needs to be higher

Faidh ar Rud Eigin 11-01-2011 04:19 PM

Faksa at 15? Ouch. Rieder was doing a lot better than him last year and look how far he fell. I mean Faksa's played great this season but he's got a ways to go before I'd say he's a first rounder. I guess they're not that bad but it's hard to be bad at this point.

Seto 11-01-2011 04:43 PM

If the Devils got Grigorenko...

I like Rieder but he is 5-10. Faksa is 6-2, very competitive, plays intelligent but also physical game.
I won´t be surprised if he is first rounder in June.

I won't be either and I actually hope he ends up a first rounder and I definitely think he has the talent to but he has a long way to go still.

If the bruins continue to suck we better get Grigorenko if we cant get Yakupov but it aint gonna happen

He seems similarily skilled to me, but with much better size; it just looks like he may not have fully adjusted to NA quite yet. I think having him that high is based on the potential they see in him if he puts all of the tools he has together.

insider 11-01-2011 05:52 PM

Koekkoek at 23, 25 and 26 seems a bit low. You'd think at least one of them would be higher on him.

bruinsfan46 11-01-2011 06:05 PM

Subban at 13 is just silly, I'm thinking more of a mid round pick. Athanasiou at 8 is way too high as well, I think the guy that has him 29th has it the most right, kid can really skate but just isn't a consistent threat yet.

J17 Vs Proclamation 11-01-2011 06:06 PM

Is anyone suprised by the real lack of elite Forwards in this draft from a North American perspective?

I'm surprised people keep taking high schoolers in the first round.

Doesn't that seem a bit..risky?

Robin Lehner* 11-01-2011 07:01 PM

no way Ottawa passes up Aberg and Collberg

This. But he needs to put up points first.

Bob Barker 11-01-2011 07:13 PM

Also, I highly highly doubt Galchenyuk goes at #2, like Hoffner says. That would be considered high even BEFORE he had the knee injury. Top 5 perhaps, but not #2.

I'd rather want Girgensons or Gaunce for the Habs than Athanasiou or Trouba at #8. Matteau? I'm not sure at all.

And Malcolm Subban can likely be had at #38 or so.

WeThreeKings 11-01-2011 09:43 PM

No way the Habs take another D-Man in the first round unless it was a Fowler situation.

We drafted pretty much strictly D last year, our talent pool is stocked, we desperately need another goalie in the pipeline and an impact center. LW is also weak.

goodfellas 11-01-2011 09:53 PM

No Nick Ebert in Hoffner's mock ?!? And Malcom Subban at 13...:amazed:

HooliganX2 11-01-2011 10:34 PM

I think Malcom Subban will be a 2nd round pick personally.

Kulemon 11-01-2011 10:52 PM

Nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks Radek Faksa is 1st round material. I was very impressed with this kid early.
