Another reason why Réjean Tremblay should ****

Et le corollaire de la censure dans un pays totalitaire, je pense à l'Union soviétique et l'Allemagne nazie, c'est la propagande. Tu censures l'information libre pour mieux faire ta propagande», a déploré le chroniqueur.
Really Réjean? Why in the hell would TVA Sports use this as a news goddamit?

Makes me want to throw up.

HH 11-02-2011 12:46 PM

So he compares the Habs to Nazi Germany and Communist Russia?

What else is new?

La Grosse Tendresse 11-02-2011 12:49 PM

But he does have a point that the organization should let journalists conduct interviews with members of the organization, it's ridiculous to "ban" journalists from talking to Randy Ladouceur...

There are ways to make a point.

In a city like Montreal, it's probably for the best.

He doesn't have to let the media do anything. The media shares part of the blame for the mediocrity this franchise has had to endure for almost 2 decades now. If the management feels that shutting a few idiots out is the way to go, I'm willing to give it some time to see the results.

IMO, Pierre Gauthier and the management understand how journalism can affect players mostly because it creates false ''news'' and rumors. The journalists here are also having the freedom of saying or writing anything they want without having to live with the consequences of being wrong.

I don't like the sport journalism culture in Quebec. I don't watch sports shows or read sport articles because more often than not, my opinion is as valuable as theirs. Tremblay can be interesting from times to times mostly when he tells stories, but his opinion is worthless because he's biased and delusional. So I don't care if we don't get to know how's Gomez feeling since the team has been winning without him lately; it actually bores players and it's not important.

Coldplay 11-02-2011 01:01 PM

It's not the organization's business to cater to journalists.

But it's not Trembaly who is being shut out, it's François Gagnon.

If it wasn't for the media talking about the Habs 24/7, the Habs would never be as successful financially. You can blame them for mediocrity on the ice, but they are also responsable for the financial success the team has become for Gillett and now Molson.

You can't take all the free advertising and the interest in your product that it brings and then just stop doing business with the journalists.

What a load of...

The blame starts with the owners, who put $$$$$ before everything else,

then the presidents, who acted as yes-men and coddled the owners,

then the GMs, who had to implement the owners' vision and made bad trade after bad trade doing so,

and finally the players, who now... put $$$$$ before everything else.

Don't forget the title, which is a reference to the mafia.

Réjean Tremblay loves trolling us, and the Habs. He succeeded again!

Jigger77 11-02-2011 01:04 PM

100% behind the organization on this one.

If you notice also the injured guys are not being made available and you don't hear rookies too much either.

I think media's track record in this town indicates it's for the best.

The idea that the media has a right to speak to anybody, whenever, is simply idiotic.
If management doesn't want the media asking dumb questions to their employees, then they have every right not to make them available.

RT is a frustrated old moron, simple as that.

BAM!! That's a loaded statement! If you blame the media for overlaying language politics onto a hockey team, then I agree with you -- they've handicapped the Habs with layers of crap no other franchise has to worry about. Idiots.

Unfortunately, those idiots are purveyors of the information we demand, as paying customers of the Montreal Canadiens organization. If journalists are shut out, we're shut out.

Lesson: If your first reaction is to call people Nazis, you won't be getting a lot of inside info.

bcv 11-02-2011 01:12 PM

I still remember that thread from not so long ago on RDS.ca. The front title was : "Price doit offrir un meilleur rendement" - Jacques Martin

So, anyone who simply look at that would say that Jacques Martin thinks Price sucks and that he needs to do more. But, if you read every single line of the article it says the JM says that everyone, including Price, could do more.

TL;DR : Media are a ***** and try to find **** where everything is clean.

uiCk 11-02-2011 01:13 PM

i think the ultimate lesson here is the "media" needs to start doing better journalism, and that would start with hiring competent journalists.

Sure, but does anyone really think that the habs will completely shut out the media? This is just a tactic the organization is using to let them know what will and will not be allowed anymore. The journalists owe their livelihoods to the habs organization and are lucky this city gobbles up all the crap with a habs logo on it. Most sports journalists in this city can't write worth dick and the good ones (we knows which ones) are few and far between. The habs will not be hurt financially as long as they keep winning. If they don't, well, they've got bigger problems.

Really? With "friends" in the media who continually gripe about the presence of Europeans and underrepresentation of Québécois on the team, who needs enemies? Fortunately, the partisans in the stands cheer the shorthanded goals by Plekanec, the energy bursts by Cole and Pacioretty, the saves by Price, and the élan of Subban. Montréal is starved for heroes in other sports and le Canadien is the team that plays THE favorite sport of millions in the province. Réjean Tremblay and François Gagnon contribute merde to the financial success of the organization.

Godwin's law.

Reductio ad Hitlerum. He who needs to bring up Hitler/Nazis in an argument automatically loses.

exactly

And then his idiotic framing of it as a freedom of speech issue

what a tool

habitue* 11-02-2011 01:24 PM

Tremblay is an obnoxious SOB. He still lives in the 70's when the habs were piling up Cups and that he was welcomed on the plane with the players and could talk to them.

He is living now in his own little fictional world of "Lance et compte...!"...

He is also working for the Emperor of the Empire, PK Peladeau, a "nazi" himself (Just watch Sun TV...) who is always trying to control information. All informations on every media.

HH 11-02-2011 01:24 PM

Journalists covering the Habs in this province are more often morons craving for attention.

Boohoo Pierre Gauthier does not give us details on injuries. OMG LETS COMPARE THEM TO NAZIS (who killed 6 million people) and Communist Russia (who also killed thousands).

****ing tool. Can he die already?

Oh, there happens to be a reverse side to this coin. I think M. Tremblay would actually like to see ein Führer who enforces his chauvinistic philosophy and exiles those entartete (i.e., degenerate) foreigners.

Habs 4 Life 11-02-2011 01:26 PM

Tremblay is a moron, he shouldn't even be allowed to write anything about the Habs!! What a disgrace
