Who will surprize us this year?

Every year, on every team, someone comes basically out of nowhere and has a heck of a year and really surprizes the fans. Last year it was Antero Niittymaki, the year before either Siedenberg or Vandermeer take your pick, a couple of years ago it was Fedotenko.

Who will it be this year? You don't even need a reason why, a gut feeling will do. Obviously it can't be guys like Gagne or Esche or JR, because they're known players. Someone obscure.

Radovojevic. Or Ruzicka if he plays.

Handzuz & Branko are going to rock :handclap:

We already know what Handzus can do though.

Teezax 09-07-2004 05:29 PM

I'll put my chips on Radovan Somik.

Maybe we'll all get to see what Hitch sees in him.

FlyHigh 09-07-2004 06:43 PM

I would throw in a vote for Radivojevic. He's a pretty good scrapper and could go 20-20, I'd also keep an eye on Sharp if he gets decent time with decent players like Stevenson.

RoDu 09-07-2004 07:19 PM

my answer is nobody. I still don't think there will be a season. but the next one, I'm thinking Radivojevic or Sharp

bobbyboucher24 09-07-2004 08:30 PM

I say either Branko or Ruzicka if he does in fact make the team.

King Fish 09-07-2004 09:46 PM

Carter

How can Carter surprise anybody? Average a ppg?

RoDu 09-08-2004 12:38 AM

and Carter would hardly be coming out of nowhere

Winston Wolf 09-08-2004 02:37 AM

I'll say Ben Eager.

Rand 09-08-2004 03:30 AM

Radivojevic, he's talented and due to break out.

blah 09-08-2004 03:57 AM

I'd say Radivojevic, but Handzus could be out for a long time.

GoneFullHextall 09-08-2004 03:59 AM

whats the deal with Handzus? ive read rumors that he could be out awhile with that torn biceps injury. hope its not serious. we are going to need him if there is a season.

Winston Wolf 09-08-2004 04:07 AM

I've heard rumors that he might be out the whole regular season.

Randy Jones

Rad if he gets to play on 3rd line. Esche will turn heads outside of philly if he handles those rebounds.

Classic Devil 09-08-2004 12:53 PM

Antero Niitymaki will be starting for Philadelphia by Februrary if there is a season.

Doubtful, until Burke is dealt, Nitty won't even see the NHL bench, let alone be the starter. And if he does come, won't see him in more than 10-15 games

Blindside9711 09-08-2004 01:57 PM

With Recchi out of the picture and guys like Leclair and Amonte on the bubble, Radivojevic could potentially see some 2nd line time as well. He could fit well with a skill centre and a power forward like Knuble.
Somik still has lots to prove by the way Hitch has been talking him up the last couple seasons, and Sharp could still surpass all expectations of him being a 3rd/4th line forward.
I think Eager and Umberger will likely start the season (if there is one) with the Phantoms, but will impress many in late season call-ups once the rosters are expanded.
