Per Zipays twitter.

Meh. Whatever. Deveaux has been adequate.

Jumbo* 11-04-2011 01:24 PM

Guess hes out for a few months.

silverfish 11-04-2011 01:26 PM

AD has been good but this team has serious injury problems recently...

Guesses on lines tomorrow night?

Feds - Stepan - Gaborik
Dubi - Richards - Cally
Avery - Boyle - Prust
EC - AA - Deveaux

While Deveaux has been pretty good, it is still unfortunate to lose someone so early in the season. He should be able to come back at some point this year right?

IAMREALITY 11-04-2011 01:33 PM

Jesus what is this like the 3rd or 4th tough man hired specifically for that role that ends up not playing or making an impact the entire year?

Jesus, what kind of voodoo curse did Colton Orr put on that position after he left?

Adequate... which is better than what Rupp was.

Ryan McDonut 11-04-2011 01:38 PM

Another useless enforcer signed by glenn sather

bmw2004 11-04-2011 01:41 PM

I guess the knee problem was there when he signed a contract.

broadwayblue 11-04-2011 01:41 PM

Wow, why all the hating on Rupp? The guy was obviously hindered by his bum knee. He's far more talented than the goons people are comparing him to, since he's not actually a goon.

NYRKindms 11-04-2011 01:41 PM

I thought Rupp was a good pick up (a little overpaid) having doubts now.

He hasn't been good when he was on the ice and now....

NYROrtsFan 11-04-2011 01:43 PM

Doubt it's a few months... Very likely a knee cartilage issue which depending on exactly what they do, should only be a few weeks. If they attempt to repair instead of remove, it would be over a month.

Melrose_Jr. 11-04-2011 01:44 PM

I had hoped he would have a been a better fit in the bottom 6 than EC. Hopefully, he comes back in better shape.

I've never thought of Rupp as an "enforcer".

TreeSapLlama 11-04-2011 01:45 PM

I was surprisingly disappointed with Rupp's play to date. He seems way more sluggish then I remembered. I am fine with Deveaux filling in, who I think was more impressive then Newbury as well.

NYRFAN218 11-04-2011 01:49 PM

When did the knee injury happen?

ColonialsHockey10 11-04-2011 01:57 PM

Jesus christ, this is like the 3rd tough guy in the past 3 years that we've signed to get injured early on with a mystery injury, and just disappear for months. :shakehead

BBKers 11-04-2011 02:07 PM

This may very well be the explanation for his somewhat dismal outings this year so far (ie see also Wolskis groin injury definitely has been clearly hampering him as well thus far). He looked real slow on the skates. But try playing a professional sport at 80-90% or lower physically. It just ainīt gonna work.
Hopefully he gets fixed up and is good to go at 100% the second half of the year.
Rupp is not an enforcer by any means. He is a big, physical guy that can play hockey and is well liked in the league amongst GMs - hence the 1,5M pricetag he got. He fights once in a while - with heavyweights too (usually ending in a loss) - but does not fit the bill as a goon. Hopefully we will see the real Mike Rupp when his knee is back to normal - he can be quite an asset on the 4th line...

Vitto79 11-04-2011 02:10 PM

That blows, I like Rupp but we saw this coming with Avery back. Sean can do the job

Hopefully Rupp is back in the 2nd half of the yr though cause it would be liking adding a vet that could help the team depth.

Four weeks max. Otherwise it would be knee reconstruction.

Deveaux was much better than adequate. He stays, Avery plays because Wolski is out with sprain groin.

Fingers crossed on this.

blueshirtbolt 11-04-2011 02:52 PM

i actually wish we somehow kept shelley. Habs will be first game i'll see deveaux though!

mrjimmyg89 11-04-2011 03:10 PM

My guess is this is why Avery is back, and the only reason why he is back.

pld459666 11-04-2011 03:44 PM

before his contract is up, Rupp is going to be a valuable contributor to this team.

A solid 4th line charachter guy.

I agree. I wish people would stump lumping him in with Bra**** and Boogaard. They were and always were going to be useless. Rupp can play a little bit, and brings a lot to the locker room.

if you think that about Rupp then you need to go to hockey 101 ... Rupp is so much more then a goon.
