In a way, not playing Shelly does contribute to being saved.

This is what I'm hoping for.

boy are the pickings slim.

it is just very sad they have no one on D that can even remotely lock down the #6 spot. there really isnt anything at all to get excited about on the back end. nothing at all.

We have two defensive prospects in the AHL. Gustaffson and Laurdisen.

And two in juniors. Blidstrand and Sullentrop. Yeesh.

Bourdon is a better bet.

Call me crazy but it looks like Gus is here to stay to become our #6 with Lilja filling in. Gus has played almost 17 minutes a night when he is out there. He hasnt played spectacular, but hasnt played poorly either.

I agree. I think he's just getting his feet wet. Sometimes he goes unnoticed which in his case is a good thing. Maybe later in the season he becomes a key power play guy, who knows.

imo the reason he is getting the 17 minutes is they want to see what he has to offer. Which is what they should do.They know what they have in lilja, so see if the kid can contribute. the bottom line is we are talking about #6 dman. there are going to be good and bad games.I def think they make a move at the deadline for a #6 dman too replace whoever has the #6 spot at that time. I dont see him replacing lilja to be honest. whether that is the right move, i dont know. I do know that him and carle are a brutal pairing. two weak ass guys who get abused down low.

to a previous post. bourdon is horrible. he is abrely an capable ahl dman right now.

DrinkFightFlyers 11-05-2011 09:31 AM

Does this spell the end of JvR and Bryzgalov?!

Agreed. He is clearly so much more capable than Lilja. I don't see how Lavy could ignore this when Pronger comes back.

Still annoyed at how little ice time rinaldo got when he had a strong game and lots of energy...

It may have had something to do with this penalty.

It was a beautiful, clean hit (last angle shows it best), but Laviolette may have felt he couldn't take the risk the way the refs are watching him.

GKJ 11-05-2011 11:12 AM

He left his feet, and thus is textbook charging, which does not make it a clean hit.

Regardless that was still before he scored and then almost scored again. It was after that you didn't see him again.

What? Its in the NHL rulebook. Go look it up? Its fairly common hockey knowledge of what a charge consists of.

I did. Once again lol.

His feet are leaving the ice as impact is being made. Even then its only one foot off the ice. He's not launching himself before contact is made.
