Mega crosscheck in the ribs. Going to be all right? Enter Hemsky? Enter Omark?

according to the people on CBC he is going to be fine, probably just sore for a while

Moonlapse Vertigo 11-06-2011 12:45 AM

Mega crosscheck it right. Complaining about the officiating after a loss isn't good tact but ugh...

Live from Rexall 11-06-2011 01:44 AM

Yeah complaing about reffing is terrible but missing that call was just brutal. I am sure the guys in the cheap seats heard him yell in pain. Well it was Phoenix so i am quite sure no one was in the cheap seats they probably all moved to the lower bowl by that point in the game!

Chef10 11-06-2011 09:02 AM

the best part about that cross check was the ref saw the whole play and didnt call anything, he actually turned away as soon as he hit him, but lets not forget oil fans that the league needs phoenix to win so someone will buy that team. Even though this is sport there is always politics involved!

I love the enthusiasm Jones plays with but if Hemsky is coming back next game Jones is the man to sit out. Last night he didn't play very well at all. He was the weak link on the Smyth, Horcoff line, particularly in the first period.

The ice was slanted Phoenix's favor way more than it should have been for many shifts because of his poor decisions and failure to connect with the puck on several opportunities.

At Oil practice in Phoenix. Barker still in baby blue. Jones is on ice after getting drilled late in 3rd last night

It looked like to me that he was laboring in a previous shift as well, he was down on a knee or hunched over down low in the offensive zone for a bit.

He was trying to draw a slashing call from my vantage point.

Hemsky playing spot duty on the lines.

who knows. at least he not derek jeter and cunvulsing on the ice crying from a dislocated shoulder.

Hockey FAN8888 11-06-2011 12:52 PM

So is Jones healthy?

I think we all know the chances of Jones being a healthy scratch are pretty close to zero. Assuming Hemsky takes Jones' spot he'll get shifted down to the bottom six (where he belongs anyway) and someone else will sit.

My guess is Lander gets sent down. There are only a couple of forwards that can go to OKC without having to clear waivers and he's one of them. In fact, I doubt the plan was to keep Lander with the big club in the first place. It was injuries to other players that allowed him to stay. The only problem is that Gagner would have to play center now.

RNH 11-06-2011 02:32 PM

So, is he ok?

Tangerine 11-06-2011 03:03 PM

yeah he looks okay and should be in by the next game

Wouldn't shock me if Jones makes the two week injury reserve list. A bit of a long shot, as Asher has has alluded too, but man, will I ever look clever if it actually happens.

Is that a problem? Gagner isn't playing well on the wing, moving him to centre might help get him going.

Not really, if he's hurt he's hurt, if he's not he's not. He hasn't done anything to warrant being a healthy scratch. Jones has been a solid contributor on the Horcoff line, at the very worst he gets bumped down to the 4th line when Hemsky returns.

It's hard to say for sure. I do kinda think they're a stronger team down the middle with Lander. I know he isn't doing that great in the FO circle, but he is playing well defensively and doing a pretty good job overall. Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing Gagner with MPS. Belanger is the main reason why I think Magnus' offensive game has died this year.

I think that even if there is a question mark about his health, he'll miss a few games. It's more about the state of the roster than the state of Jone's health.

Who do you put in the line-up, Jones at 95%, who has shown some deficiencies to his game as of late or Hemsky? I select the most electrifying man in pro sports. ;)

I think he's looked ok on the wing. Give the guy time to recover and get going again. He looks better than Omark did.

Jones is a trooper. He'll play through it fine

He got slashed on the wrist in front of the net.

Jones had a rough night. He should take a game or two off and we should get Harti up here for a couple of games

Harksi would be MUCH more valuable on the Horc line than Jones. Really eager to see him called up.

That would be awesome. I don't mind jones in small doses, but I was against his re-signing mostly for the reason that his presence makes Harski's path to the Oil more difficult.

Clever until Hordichuk returns soon as takes up one of those spots in the press box. I would agree with Asher that Lander going down seems like a decent possibility. I honestly do not think it would hurt him to go down for a while and be a go to guy down there and get some offensive confidence rolling.

Not sure he would at the top of the list for a forward call up right now. Coach Nelson made him a healthy scratch last night as a little motivation to bring up his play and intensity level to where it had been prior.
