Booing Eric Staal on Nov 11

will booing Eric Staal happen and will one of the Rangers go after Eric Staal on Nov 11 happen??

Killem Dafoe 11-07-2011 05:28 PM

im sure booing will happen. i personally wouldnt, he didnt wanna kill his brother he was being competitive and hit him hard. he even said if he knew all this would have happened he wouldn't have hit him.

wolfgaze 11-07-2011 05:30 PM

Eric really shouldn't be boo'd because it was a clean hit and he was neither penalized nor suspended for the play....

If it was a dirty hit that sidelined his brother, that's a different story.

DrSutton* 11-07-2011 05:30 PM

voted nothing will happen. Booing Eric doesn't get Marc back any faster, and doesn't affect the player in any way shape or form (See Erixon, Tim)

It would be better if you did absolutely nothing when staal has the puck, show that his presence means absolutely nothing to you, go silent, if it means that much to you.

Booing players is right up there with "Shoot!"

I think it depends on what you're booing them for. If you're Calgary fans and booing Tim Erixon then that is ridiculous. But if you're Canadiens fans and booing Chara after that hit on Pacioretty, then I can understand it.

And yeah- the "shoot!" crowd was unbearable at the game last night. I can't fathom why people continue to do it.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter who is booing who, the end result is the same - nothing. It has zero effect on players.

Giacomin 11-07-2011 05:40 PM

I think Rangers fans are more creative than that. He might get booed but I remember a player 1979 who broke Ulf Nilson,s ankle and might have cost the Rangers a Cup. If I remember the fans didn,t let him forget it:) In all seriousness it was a different time and under different circumstances. I wouldn,t boo him any more than anyone else.

ZacUSNYR 11-07-2011 05:49 PM

I think we should do a Staal Sucks chant for the next 30+ years.

darrenturcotte#8 11-07-2011 05:51 PM

I think booing Eric Staal might actually get in his head only because it was his brother he hurt. He'll know exactly why he's getting boo'd and that thought in his head can't make him play harder. These guys are only human... so I say boo him hard even though 98% of the time, it has no effect.

hpNYR 11-07-2011 05:55 PM

Instead of whistling and saying Potvin sucks for something that happened a long time ago; how about everyone in attendance amends it to Eric sucks.

GAGLine 11-07-2011 05:57 PM

I hope we show more class than to boo him, but I'm not counting on it

beastly115 11-07-2011 06:00 PM

Boo him? If I was there I'd throw a brick at his head.

ak10r 11-07-2011 06:04 PM

Am I my brother’s keeper?

OK so lets look at this…… Eric plays for the Cains

Cain took out his brother Able

God is telling us something here……..

Eric from hence forth be Know as Cain Staal of the Canes :sarcasm:

Kershaw 11-07-2011 06:08 PM

I despise Eric Staal. Boo this man!

New York RKY 11-07-2011 06:11 PM

Booing Eric won't make Marc come back any sooner.

It was a clean play that just happened to hurt our player.

I'm sure it's really bothering him so booing him won't change a thing.

Kane One 11-07-2011 06:12 PM

No one will go after him probably for the sole reason that he's Marc's brother.

TheHotRock 11-07-2011 06:13 PM

i was saying boo-urns

Nyrvana 11-07-2011 06:13 PM

He shouldn't be booed, but he obviously will be. This is New York afterall. Maybe it will get in his head even more?

Jumbo* 11-07-2011 06:14 PM

He will 100% be booed by the fans every time he touches the puck. I'll bet my account on that.

Every single fan knows Eric knocked his brother out, clean or not. MSG has shown that replay a million times. He will get his boo's.

None of the Rangers will go after him though.

Booing someone at a sporting event is classless? Oh jeeze...

When the refs call a bad penalty and the fans boo, do you feel ashamed to be apart of such a classless fanbase?

Swept In Seven 11-07-2011 06:16 PM

Yeah he probably will be booed.

BroadwayBlues 11-07-2011 06:19 PM

I've been thinking about this, so yes I think he gets booed.

WeWillWinTonight 11-07-2011 06:21 PM

I'll be there Friday and don't plan on booing I really don't see the point

Burlington Bomb 26 11-07-2011 06:21 PM

I hate Eric Staal. Hopefully someone sends him a message.

Rangerfans 11-07-2011 06:22 PM

Why boo him?
Clean hit, no penalty, no intend to injure.

Marc Staal got a concussion. Personally? I think he's done for the year...and I wouldn't be shocked if his career was over.

But it's part of the game. People get hurt, concussions unfortunately happen.

The players know the risk and take it. For a legal hit, there is no need to boo him.
