Trade Talk

Just a gut call but something tells me Stoll may be the first king to get moved.

Who do you guys think will get traded first?

Ziggy Stardust 11-08-2011 01:04 AM

I would hope it is Penner, but nobody is going to trade for that useless sack of *****. As for Stoll, he has become completely obsolete. The Kings could take him out of the lineup and they wouldn't miss a beat.

damacles1156 11-08-2011 01:05 AM

No one, if anything CLifford gets sent to the AHL and Loki brought up. That's probably about it.

I doubt Penner because like you said, he doesn't hold much value.

And although Stoll hasn't done much this year either, he still has some value.

agreed on the second part. i said it in the GDT today, but i think stoll has been at least putting forth a good amount of effort in every game. i've even almost been moved to call him gritty at certain times when he's been aggressive along the boards.

Live in the Now 11-08-2011 01:11 AM

I think we've gotten to the point where effort isn't good enough anymore. Not after the trades that have been made. Effort ain't cutting it. That may be harsh but the team is supposed to be good and results matter far more than trying hard now. The team will not win with guys that only try hard.

Stoll holds the most value and should be shipped out. This team is in desperate need of third line scoring help and they have it in Manchester. Take a speedy third or fourth line winger and a pick, waive Hunter too for a roster space, and move on.

agreed, and i'd love to see stoll score more. i do believe he's capable of it. but i'm simply saying that i agree on the notion that he still has some value. i think it's also worth mentioning that the kind of play i'm talking about is to be expected of when it comes to a 3rd liner, so i'm glad to see stoll make that adjustment this year.

FrozenKing18 11-08-2011 01:36 AM

I don't like the idea of trading, but if the Kings are going to trade, they should trade:

Penner+Stoll before they walk after the season

bobafettish* 11-08-2011 01:48 AM

can coaches be traded?

Jason Lewis 11-08-2011 02:25 AM

Penner + Stoll for Loui Eriksson and Jamie Benn.

NHL12 rocks.

I think the first to be traded is Voynov/Hickey/Muzzin. DL will try to right the ship before he starts trading roster guys.

The first move that gets done in my books though is a coaching change, unless things start to improve of course. 30 goals in 14 games won't work, period.

Where are the roster spots for the new guy? Unless Hunter or some peripheral player goes with Hickey.

Depends on who is brought in and who isn't performing. If we bring in someone for the 2nd/3rd line, I can see Hunter getting waived. Doubt anyone will want him in a tarde, unless they are taking him back to fill a roster space like what DL did a few years back with guys like Lundmark.

When was the last time a player was brought in here and dropped into TM's system and performed?

How many players have been dropped/traded from here and started producing for their new team?

Coincidence?

Kingurentai 11-08-2011 11:04 AM

No trading Voynov. Stoll+AMart for a solid forward. As someone said before, I think Stoll sees the writing on the wall. I think other teams can use him. Then bring up VOynov and Lokti. These two NEED to be in the lineup.

They've done their part to get a shot at this. If using the "they haven't proven themselves" excuse, what more does a young player have to do to get a shot? Great young players are found only when given chances.

Also, this move would free up cap space for yet another trade or FA at the deadline.

Do it now!

Obviously Stoll, Penner and Martinez haven't been cutting it. Problem is Voynov and Loktionov are ready to take Stoll and Martinez's spots. So do you move Stoll and Martinez for Picks? Do you move Penner for a struggling winger, because no one is going to give you fair value for him after his start?

Johnny Utah 11-08-2011 11:16 AM

All of the above. The logical guys to go are usually the UFA's...it may be a little early for salary cap reason to take Stoll or Penner's salary mainly because only about barely a million has been ticked off of each so far...Martinez has been kinda invisible....Hunter and Moreau really have no trade value...Parse has little value...

Reaper45 11-08-2011 11:16 AM

I'd send Clifford to Manchester for a few games and call up Nolan, Loktionov and Voynov. Trade Stoll and Martinez for a replacement winger. Trade Penner for a NHL ready prospect.

Go with

Replacement-Kopi-Brown
Gagne-Richards-Williams
Parse-Loktionov-Richardson
Nolan-Lewis-Moreau
Westgarth/Hunter

Doughty-Mitchell
Johnson-Scuderi
Voynov-Greene
Drewiske

Quick
Bernier

Disagree, who in Manchester can provide third line scoring help? Lotkionov, that's a gamble and it's not guaranteed. So to say it's there is a bit erroneous. Lotkionov showed last year flashes of what he could do, but even then, he wasn't very effective.

Johnny Utah 11-08-2011 11:20 AM

Whoa, those are drastic moves, but they make a huge difference...that 3rd line is a little small so I may shift Moreau or Nolan up.

Would the Kings have been better off keeping Simmonds and Schenn?

Williams-Kopiar-Gagne
Brown-Loktionov-Penner
Simmonds-Stoll-Richardson
Parse-Lewis-Schenn

No they wouldn't have. Schenn has done nothing with the opportunity he has had so far in Philly, some of that is due to injuries, some of that is to simply being outplayed.

Taking my post above, I would still see if you can trade Stoll and Martinez, but identify the guy you want to get first of all.

I really like Kulemin in TOR, off to a slow start, had 30 goals last year, what would his price tag be? They are looking for help at C, not sure if Stoll is an upgrade over what they have now in Bozak, Grabovski, Steckel, and Connolly, and they have no room for Martinez.

Who else would be available is the question...

By next season's start at the latest (barring horrible camp performance by the two), you are going to have to take that gamble with them. Why not now since the guys they're replacing aren't producing right now? These two are expected to be a part of the team for the long haul, might as well get them in NHL games.

Also why not get something for Stoll now before he goes UFA? Packaging him with AMart or a Manch D should get us some fresh legs.

It's a gamble, but a gamble that can be corrected in the worst case scenario via trade/trade deadline UFA since we'll have more cap space.

WHy not take that gamble now?
