Must mean Backlund is back. Also, the Phaneuf trade continues to look worse and worse.

MOD EDIT:

Put on re-entry waivers today, per McKenzie

As a Flames fan, this makes my day a little bit better.

Ashasx 11-10-2011 11:15 AM

He cleared waivers last season. I don't expect much else right now.

well this time he is a UFA at year's end. I could maybe see a team like Carolina taking a chance on him

bobbyflex 11-10-2011 11:19 AM

Hagman was actually pretty decent for the Leafs. Don't know why he struggled so bad in Calgary

I doubt it. If it's re-entry waivers later though maybe.

caley 11-10-2011 11:21 AM

I was thinking last night that he would a great fit on the Ducks second line until Jason Blake is healthy, but with the Ducks claiming Ben Maxwell today, I'd say that is unlikely.

King In The North 11-10-2011 11:25 AM

All heart but lost his scoring touch

Niklas Hagman

nm, didn't notice the other thread.

WJG 11-10-2011 11:27 AM

As a Jets fan, I'd be willing to take a chance on him.

Our LW depth after Kane and Ladd is pretty week. We've rotated through McArdle, Stapleton and Maxwell and none of really been a great fit.

With Hagman added to a healthy line up, we could roll three decent scoring lines:

Kane-Antropov-Burmistrov
Ladd-Little-Wheeler
Hagman-Wellwood-Fehr
Glass-Slater-Thorburn

Ashasx 11-10-2011 11:27 AM

I don't know if he's the one that should have been over Stajan, but I can understand because of our mediocre centres.

Hagman has 4 points in 8 games. 41 point pace... not likely that he would have been able to do that, but it would have been much better than last season.

CreeksideStrangler 11-10-2011 11:28 AM

Dion phaneuf's finger nail clippings... Nuff said

RA9 11-10-2011 11:28 AM

Probably gonna go to Abbotsford, too bad. he has some talent.

His Beardliness 11-10-2011 11:31 AM

I think he's a good pickup, but he has a rather high contract, no? That may be stopping him.

3 million, UFA at seasons end. Not bad considering he can be successful in a top 6 role, and especially since a guy like Ville Leino is making 4.5+.

SoundwaveIsCharisma 11-10-2011 11:44 AM

Actually wouldn't mind the Avs giving him a try, can't be much worse then the random's we've used as top-6 wingers this season.

Dirty Kari 11-10-2011 11:47 AM

Maybe the Stars pick him up? We need some depth scoring and we have 14 million in cap space. Hagman has a history here and would fit in with a defensive system. UFA at seasons end so it wouldn't hurt us long term. The Stars sale to a new owner isn't far off and is set to be approved next week (Nov 18th) which should open up the purse strings.

Marty Straka 11-10-2011 11:50 AM

Wouldn't be surprised if the Sens give him a look.. we've been needing a winger for our Top 6 as some of the kids haven't exactly been working out and Alfie still concussed.

Erza Scarlet 11-10-2011 11:53 AM

some players are just a bad fit on certain teams, mostly every player Calgary signs.

frostyflo 11-10-2011 11:53 AM

if a team takes him where he clicks (Anaheim?) he could do good things but I guess his NHL days are numbered

If we could get him on re-entry waivers for half price Id love to give him a shot. We really need some depth scoring.

R0bert0 Lu0ng0 11-10-2011 11:57 AM

Aren't the Rangers also looking for a left wing?

Bruinsfan70 11-10-2011 11:58 AM

How about the Bruins.

Why do we need Hagman back? Our depth seems to be chipping in reliably. It'd take more than Hagman to get Morrow and Ribeiro to consistently score more.

They also recalled Byron from the AHL. Although I think they also may have IRed Morrison (given his performance he should not have been playing). So could be Hagman and Morrison out: Backlund and Byron in - I think.
