It seems like he'll get a chance tomorrow.

I don't think I've ever seen him not play LW in an NHL game.

Kunitz and Sully aren't moving off of 1st and second line LW and I highly doubt Cooke moves off of the third line.

It's 4th line to start and hopefully he plays well early and gets some PP time.

Nope. We need a 12th forward if Kennedy isn't ready to go.

Sideline 11-10-2011 04:50 PM

This is very interesting. Once Crosby and Kennedy are back the Penguins will need to subtract a body and here they are giving a new guy a look. My guess is this is just Shero giving a guy a pat on the back for good work in the minors.

For the sake of some empty chatter: who knows, perhaps this is a showcase game for a trade...

I don't know why they would trade Tangradi at this time.

We'll see how it goes I guess. I could have sworn I heard somebody (maybe Jiggy) say that he could play RW, and he's usually pretty spot on when it comes to prospects.

Because Shero will do any deal he thinks can make the team better.

Yea I remember that too. Just saying I've never seen him play RW in an NHL game. Maybe they'll throw him out there a few shifts with Kunitz and Staal.

Jag68Sid87 11-10-2011 05:39 PM

Tangradi played both RW and C in the OHL, I do believe. He also played RW with Kunitz and Crosby in his first preseason game with us back in 2009. IIRC.

Glad he's up, but don't expect him to play much.

Would a trade involving him make this team better? Short and long term?

That would hinge upon what we would be hypothetically dealing for, wouldn't it?

Depends who they trade him for. And Shero doesn't make every trade with an eye to the long term. This might be the "hockey's future" website, but in the real NHL, a team as good as this is willing to trade future prospects for a chance at the Stanley Cup.

mpp9 11-10-2011 06:11 PM

I'd like to think we wouldn't trade him for a rental unless it was a big piece to the puzzle. And I doubt we're taking on a contract that goes beyond this season.

My point is that he's not really done anything at this point in his career to help us in the short term, and he'd be a bigger asset to us in the long term to keep him.

There really is no incentive to trade him right now for that very reason.

And it's too early in the season for rentals to be traded.

Hopefully he gets some meaningful minutes in the game(s) he plays. I know we need the healthy bodies, but it's a bit of a waste if he only takes over Jeffrey's recent role as 7 minutes per game man on the fourth line. I'd like to see what Tangradi can do with a]decent linemates and b]12+ minutes of ice time per game.

thegenerel* 11-10-2011 09:26 PM

imo they need a 12th forward for tomorrow and Tangradi has earned the right to be the first callup. His 2 way deal makes it a no brainer for a short term gig.

Bennett Brauer 11-10-2011 09:32 PM

I actually hope he gets 2nd line minutes with Staal and Kunitz.

Sullivan-Malkin-Neal
Kunitz-Staal-Tangradi
Cooke-Park-Dupuis
Asham-Vitale-Adams

Iffyiffiffer 11-10-2011 11:19 PM

I personally can't wait to see him play 5 minutes on the 4th line.

Ziggyjoe21 11-11-2011 12:25 AM

Is Tangradi a mean PF like Malone or is he more like Neal?

He's got a mean streak in there

OnMyOwn 11-11-2011 01:13 AM

Tangradi is way closer to malone than neal IMO

Dan Barr 11-11-2011 03:09 AM

Neal's more of a sniper than a power forward. Just because a guy is big and not soft doesn't mean he's a power forward.
