Stoll

Just curious, what (If he's even available) would it cost the Flames to get him from you?

The Dingo 11-11-2011 06:15 PM

Iginla and 19 first round draft picks.

We aren't looking for picks or prospects.

Quoted for truth :sarcasm:

Seriously though, the guy on your team we'd like to get I'd think is Bourque, maybe Glencross. So maybe Stoll+ for for one of them?

I don't want Tanguay's contract. By the time it's over he'll be 36 and has shown some streakiness over the past several seasons.

Ziggy Stardust 11-11-2011 07:05 PM

I figure either one of Stempniak or Moss would suffice as the Kings lack a true RW to play on the 3rd line. Adding either one would help balance out the bottom two lines for the Kings.

Clifford-Richardson-Stempniak or Moss
Moreau-Lewis/Fraser-Hunter/Westgarth

Black1963 11-11-2011 07:18 PM

I actually would prefer a prospect or even a pick over Flames current roster options (no offense). We have Richie or Parse, maybe even Hunter that can play the 3RW adequately. As long as we get Lokti with his play making skills at 3C, it should be an upgrade.

Edit: Even Lewis could be a serviceable 3RW with Lokti at center.

Richie-Lokti-Lewis

Pretty good speed line if you ask me.

redcard 11-11-2011 07:21 PM

If Stoll was moved it would be because they were ready to bring Loktionov up full time. So something like Stoll+Richardson for a RW who could improve our 3rd line.

The problem is, they don't have anyone on the RW that is worth a Stoll + Richie.

KingsFan24* 11-11-2011 07:27 PM

I would like Lee Stempniak for Jarret Stoll hahah

Clifford-Richardson-Stempniak

Not a bad third line, just sayin.

Jetteroheller 11-11-2011 10:29 PM

Can we ship out Stoll and get back Simmonds? ;)

Herby 11-12-2011 12:56 AM

How about we give you a 5th round pick to take him.

Yeah, also having a Kings killer on the team always helps too. I'd take this deal.

And you are the guy who got all bent saying we opt for size over skill in this organization

and you suggest we get Moss. Talk about the epitome of that statement.....

Hagman
Jokinen
Stempniak
Moss
Morrison
Kostopoulous
Jackman
Leblond

those are the forwards up for UFA that Calgary would probably like to deal...I say pass on all of those.

I'd be interested in Rene Bourque. But he has a NMC and is signed at 3.3 mil all the way to 2016-17

Don't know if I would want to commit to that if I were a GM.

PLUS it wouldn't really benefit the Flames to pick up a guy like Stoll anyways. These guys need prospects, picks, and young nhl ready guys.

If Calgary is a bottom dweller at the deadline it's going to be a fire sale (no pun intended) and guys like Bourque and Glencross will probably be given away for little more then high, maybe 2nd or 3rd round draft picks or a guy like Thomas Hickey.

Ziggy Stardust 11-12-2011 03:39 AM

To brush you up on Moss and why I suggested him... first of all, for cap reasons. The Kings need to take on salary as Calgary (surprisingly) is pushing the salary cap ceiling.

Yes, he may have size, but he's also a former 20 goal scorer who also potted 17 last season and he averages a bit over 13 mins of ice time. He'd be a perfect fit for the 3rd line RW position, more so than whoever else the Kings have tried in that spot this season.

I'd love to get Bourque, but I don't see the Flames dumping him quite easily. He'd likely draw a lot of interest in he was being shopped.

Stoll for Brad Boyes of Buffalo?

Sure why not, the salary is pretty much a wash and both guys are UFA's at the end of the season. If Boyes fizzles out we just let him walk.

Your not giving up anything significant, and while your probably not getting anything to significant back (Boyes 35-40 goal days are done) it's worth mixing things up. I think Boyes can play the RW and most importantly it opens a spot for Loktionov.

This could almost describe Trent Hunter. At least now he is getting some minutes.

And whoever suggested Boyes for Stoll. Done. Put him on the plane.

Stoll is a very important piece to this team. He will not be traded unless it is at least a slight overpayment. Only guy I think the Kings would be interested in is Iggy. Maybe Bourque. Not sure if Calgary would be willing to part with either of them

Not to keep quoting you but I don't see why any team would overpay for Stoll.

And I don't think Stoll is a "very important piece" to our team.

If anything, he's become very expendable.

I don't think a slow start justifies labeling him as being expendable. Please explain that to me because I must be missing something. 6 weeks ago everybody on our board, including myself, thought stoll was one of the best third line centers in the league. We are not even twenty games in and a lot of people want to trade him. It's so typical.

He is a important piece because he provides the team with...

1. Leadership

2. Depth at center in case of injury. Ability to fill 2c position

3. Faceoff wins

4. Shootouts goals

5. Depth at point on power play

For the record, I did not say someone would overpay for stoll. I said someone would have to overpay for the kings to trade him
