The next 50 minutes, we were trying to get out of the hole we dug ourselves in, but came up a little short there. I thought we fought hard to get back into the game and we did. We made it a game. We had a couple chances at the end to tie it up. We just have to keep battling the way we did there in those last two periods and things will turn around.
A couple of those early penalty calls, a few of us wouldn’t agree with, but at the end of the day you always have to be disciplined, no matter what. Even if you get a call you don’t think you deserved, it is what it is and you have to fight it off and you have to kill it off.
The physical game in front of his net … it happens. It’s part of the game. It’s a physical game. Guys are trying to get to the net and create stuff in front of the net. It’s going to happen. You just deal with it, that’s it. It’s part of the game and you expect it to happen from time to time, and it does.
If you’re doing (the review) both ways, yeah, I think that’s fair. … I don’t see why not. They’re kind of getting into that with football, whether they should review head-shots and stuff like that. Obviously it’s a pivotal part of the game, whether or not it’s a 15-yard penalty on third down or whatever. Same with hockey. It’s a goal for or a goal against. Especially the way games are going right now, 2-1 or 3-2, they’re all tight games, so one goal goes a long way, as far as momentum goes and the outcome of the game."

The offensive, and certainly myself at the top of the list, should be scoring more, getting to the net. I think we had a lot of chances tonight. We didn’t quite come through. But we need to find ways, when we’re down (in) games, to come back. I felt the spirit on the ice, when we were down a couple goals. We still had the fight, and that’s a real good sign, but we need to get a comeback win, just for our psyche, to know that we can come back, for our confidence. It was a good step, getting two, but it’s obviously not good enough."

That happens to every team, and it’s a tough stretch in the game but it’s going to happen and we’ve got to get those kills. … There was time to come back. I thought we responded well to it. We came out of the first down 3-0 and got it going, got the late goal to make it 3-2. We had life all game. It’s tough coming back after being down 3-0.
On lack of scoring this season, it’s just not going in for us right now, but I thought we had a lot of chances tonight, after the first (period). I thought we were there. (The Canucks) did a good job of bottling things up there in front of the net and eliminating second chances, but I think it’s there. I think we’re getting our chances and it’s going to come."

They were President’s Trophy winners for a reason. We couldn’t do it, bottom line. We tried. We worked. I liked everything that we were trying to do on the penalty kill, right through the 5-on-5 in the third period. We did a real good job with intensity and compete. I thought we were carrying the play in the third period, trying hard to get back into it. You get close, but it’s too hard to turn the tables sometimes.
I liked our fourth line here tonight, with Fraser. That was his first game with the L.A. Kings, and not only did he play a pretty determined game, he made a couple plays there in the third period that gave us a look, anyway. On Stoll’s line, that’s where it kind of got out of sync a little, with everything that was going on (with penalty kills). I thought Hunter played fine. Again, I thought he played a better dot-to-board game than maybe any other game that he’s been in. He recovered some pucks, pulled them off the boards, big in front of the net. Clifford did his thing, he was gritty and strong. So that gives us some of the momentum. Would I like to see a few more goals scored there? Yeah, absolutely, and I think it will happen. Hunter’s got a resume that shows 15-18 goals a year. So, it’s there."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

The "if the Kings" subjectives are 2 for 3. I gotta play the odds.
If the Kings win tonight, I will post a picture of Cal Worthington(I reserve the right but am not legally bound to include his dog spot) in the PGT.

Tonights Kings game is the only NHL game with an O/U of 5, and everyone is still riding the under.

This looks like another 2-0 or 2-1 shootout type game.

holy crap! so this means lewis, Richardson, hunter, Moreau, and Fraser are all in. yikes.

CTKingsFan 11-12-2011 12:52 PM

Penner hurt....

Per Hammond

Based on this morning’s skate, it appears that Dustin Penner will be scratched, along with Davis Drewiske and Kevin Westgarth. Yesterday, Penner walked around after practice with a large ice bag, and Terry Murray mentioned an upper-body injury but indicated it wasn’t serious. Perhaps it is, although Penner did participate in today’s morning skate. Brad Richardson is slotted to go back in after a one-game absence and, as expected, Jonathan Quick starts in goal.
