Rodents website

The dude has stated that the NYR are close to getting a left winger...

Quote:

Of the several left wing alternatives available to New York from the pool of unrestricted free agents, Glen Sather is close to making a decision. Expect an announcement soon.

Very soon.

Can anyone guess who that LW might be??????

My guess is Martin Rucinsky.

Now that the Czechs are knocked out of the World Cup, he's ready to negotiate. Playing two weeks with Jagr probably influenced him to go back to New York. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him come back for a year. Seems like a solid top line stopgap until the next generation (Jessiman, Prucha, Immonen, etc.) are ready to step in.

Bacchus 09-12-2004 08:13 PM

Never liked Rucinsky. Nevertheless it would be a good signing IMO.

Ocelot 09-12-2004 08:19 PM

Thats a signing I would not mind.

Edge 09-12-2004 08:22 PM

So long as it isnt a long term deal.

Having said that he would join a short list of 3 time Rangers.

Tik comes to mind.

And Messier doesn't count {SJ doesn't count as a destination}.

He said at the beggining of the summer he is still upset he was traded but would love to come back to NY. He didnt think of it last week.

RoyKeane16 09-12-2004 08:30 PM

Thanks guys..

Rucinsky - Nylander - Jagr... not bad.

I would rather have had a kid playing on that line (if Rucinsky is put on that line) so he can get his scoring numbers up playing with Jagr and Nylander....

NYR469 09-12-2004 08:36 PM

i agree that it is most likely rucinsky...i guess they want to get it done before the lockout but it seems almost pointless to do it now, i'd wait till after the lockout for any moves...

and also i know we don't have any kids ready to play on the top line, unless you put lundmark on lw and give him a shot or maybe jagr could play the left side so balej could play there. but i'd REALLY rather not see a rucinsky-nylander-jagr line because my fear is that the temptation would be to use that line 25:00/night. not to mention that the veterans on the team should NOT be paired with other veterans but rather paired with kids that they can learn from them...

i want to see a 2nd line of rucinsky-lundmark-balej instead...

NYR469 09-12-2004 08:41 PM

just noticed that rodent said that the guy will be a surprise, which would mean if he is right then its not rucinsky since rucinsky would be the logical choice...

NYRangers 09-12-2004 08:52 PM

Lundmark isnt a center. Get over it. He doesnt win faceoffs and isnt a playmaker.

I want to see

Lundmark - Nylander - Jagr
Rucinsky - Holik - Balej

IMO thats the most efficient (sp?) way to do it. Putting Balej and Lundmark together would be horrible. It would be a huge mess.

Graveytrain 09-12-2004 08:55 PM

Has Corey Stillman been signed? TB let him walk no?

You took that 100% out of context dude. Heres what he said...

"I know specifically of one player who believes he will be Glen's choice. But he may be in for a surprise. "

Damn. That is TOTALLY different from what you said.

I still say its Rucinsky but Hlavac actually wouldnt surprise me. He was good the last few weeks.

He hasnt signed. But what I said above I take back since Rodent never said hes a surprise player, read my above post - the poster took it out of context.

barnaby63 09-12-2004 09:04 PM

Petr Schatslivy.

Worst case scenario: Jan Hlavac...

Just throwing it out there.

ChrisKreider20 09-12-2004 09:46 PM

so many possibilities...
I'd favor...
Rucinsky
McAmmond
Stillman
or
Kariya

If we get corson i'll cry.

I dont know. Since we got Jagr he was a whole different player. I'd be happy if he was back and he played like he did for like the last 15 games. I'd rather him than Kariya or Stillman.
