That’s a game where we were outplaying them, and we’ve got to make sure they don’t get any points and we get two. They got one there on the power play at the end that I think I could have stopped. That was a little disappointing, but to get two points, it’s always good. They’ve got some high-end, talented forwards. Those guys are good. Like I said, they do get that goal, which is going to happen, but otherwise I think the guys played well and we did what we had to do to get that second point. Those are games where we’ve got to make sure we get two points and — especially a division rival like them — we’ve got to make sure they don’t get any points out of it. I think the way we played, the way we outplayed them, was great. We did everything right all game. I wish I had that one (goal) back, so they wouldn’t have got that point."

We couldn’t get that second goal past the goalie and unfortunately they scored to tie it up. It’s tough giving up a point to a division opponent but we got two. We had a lot of shots in the first half of the game and weren’t able to get one by. We were fortunate to have a 5-on-3 and we capitalized on it, but our power play needs to do a better job of getting that second goal, so we can have a little breathing room. During the shootout … I think most of us on the bench don’t want to tell someone to do something, and then they mess it up and it doesn’t work. They don’t want to be responsible for that. [smiles] But no, I was thinking shot. The ice obviously isn’t great, after three periods and overtime, regardless of how good they flood. So I think shooting the puck is probably the way to go, especially for me, because I don’t really have a go-to move that I’m going to use out there. But it was nice to get the win. Any time we play them, it's a battle, they're always a tough opponent, especially later in the year when we're battling for playoff spots. We got a little revenge from last year and we want to take these four points."

Yeah, our power play has been good all year. Same as 5-on-5, we’ve got to get the puck on net as much as possible and we did that. We got a fortunate bounce off the end boards and capitalized on it."

He’s just doing some things he has to do in order to recover some pucks, getting in on the forecheck as quick as possible. I think he was a little off-balance, and the stick just happened to come down. The player stood up after getting his skate hit by the stick, but kind of toe-picked and fell. Anyway, (Williams) bounced back. He scored a huge goal for us to get the two points."

Both guys are very skilled with the puck. They’ve got a lot of composure. They see the ice to make some plays, and just settle it down when things get a little hot in the kitchen sometimes. It’s a great skill to have, for young players. They’re both going to be very good players."

That means you’re doing a lot of things right, to get frustrated about. That means putting pucks to the net, offensive-zone time play. I think we hit two or three posts here tonight. So the 5-on-5 play was good. The mentality, of getting pucks to the net and having traffic, was good. I liked the power play tonight. We moved it around and we got pucks to the net. We shot from up top, and I think quite a few of those blocks ended up being our own players. But again, the attitude is the right thing, and it will start to come because of that."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Same. I'm sensing the Terry Murray of two years ago who played Quick into the ground.

I'll be surprised if Hiller doesn't start, though, too.

I guess the Ducks don't want to wear Hiller down.

The Kings are in the midst of 5 games in 8 nights. Quick will most likely start 4 of them.

KingsKnight 11-17-2011 02:46 PM

I think the hardest thing about tonights game is getting the right line matchups. We won't have the luxury of always getting the right line out at the right time. But as long as we keep up the intensity, I don't think Ellis can keep up the same way Hiller did. Depending on the way things shake out tonight, we could be as high as 2nd in the West. But it's not as important as bringing home 2 more points.

LOL seriously? TM needs to go already. He's sits Quick after 3 shutouts in a row claiming he won't burn him out like he did 2 years ago, and now he's going to make him play both in a back to back? he has no freakin clue......

Agree - Bernier should get the start tonight, because Quick will certainly start Sat. (afternoon!) vs Detroit.

If the Kings win this game I am going to haiku it up on the PGT.

BigBrown 11-17-2011 03:58 PM

It's that time of year again, when Terry Murray loses confidence in his backup goalie. Bernier will likely only start in emergency situations until Quick starts laying gigantic turds because of exhaustion.

But he has to sit in the middle of a historic shut out streak with back to back games later in the week.

I actually like TM. I often defend him but that move was a terrible mistake imo.

johnjm22 11-17-2011 04:22 PM

A back-to-back situation against one of the worst teams in the league. This is a game Bernier should definitely be starting.

Cruel11 11-17-2011 04:23 PM

Not a smart move by TM. Why does he make things so difficult? Bernie should play today and Quick on Saturday.

KingsKnight 11-17-2011 04:25 PM

It think the whole Quick thing is getting blown out of proportion. There's plenty of time left in the season for Quick to recover and not burn out before the playoffs. We played one of our best games in front of him yesterday and I think TM realizes that. Also, in terms of points and standings, we have chance to do some real damage to a division rival and move up in the standings. It seems to me you'd want to play your number one goalie in this situation.
