How would you see Hal Gill as a goalie?

I know this has been alluded to yesterday night, when Nabokov got injured. So, if both Price and Budaj get injured in a single game, we'd put Gill in the net? If so, how would you see him in the net?

I'd see Hal Gill as a goalie that could be beaten high-glove while he wouldn't suck with pad saves or the stick.

lol wow very insightful. I can see this one being closed soon

I think we'd stick Jacques Martin in nets.

Isn't Josh Gorges out emergency keeper? I think I remember hearing that a while back.

I also think Steve Begin may have had such duties when he was here but I could be wrong.

Stradale 11-18-2011 07:49 PM

Gorges would probably be the best candidate to play in net if Price and Budaj are injured in a game.

Which one would you trust more as an emergency goalie, Gill or Gorges?

Galchenyum 11-18-2011 08:19 PM

This never gets old. Definitely Gorges

Mathradio 11-18-2011 08:26 PM

The only advantage that I'd see in Gorges over Gill is the glove.

Also, if we somehow got to injure both Brodeur and whoever his backup would be during a Devils game, we would have to watch out for Volchenkov; that guy is probably the best emergency goalie in the league. (Sometimes I wonder why that guy was switched away from the goalie position while he still was a CSKA Moscow hockey school student)

Price nominated Plekanec for the job. :naughty:

Jigger77 11-18-2011 09:14 PM

Let's just hope we never, ever have to find out.

One Trick Pony 11-18-2011 09:18 PM

I could see Weber starting on the 4th line, then one of our D gets injured as usual so he moves to the bottom pairing, then both our goalies get injured and he plays G. The JM hat trick.

The Day The Coach Played Goalie

At 44, Lester Patrick put on goalie's pads for the first time to play an NHL game

Krnage 11-18-2011 09:26 PM

Can Gomez be more useful as Goaler ?

No, we wouldn't use him in the net. He would be injured.

JM is probably retarded enough to do it

No he's not that crazy. He knows he needs him on the point on the PP.

kassian 11-18-2011 10:05 PM

Gill isn't agile enough and is too tall. As others have said, Gorges would be perfect.

Gill has a lot to learn from Rinne on that one.

Should Gorges be put in the net then our backend will be weakened much more than by putting Gill in the net.

ruski17 11-18-2011 11:39 PM

Mathieu Darche and Travis Moen will both have chances first.

It would be funny to have Patrick Roy as a head coach and if both goalies suck, we say they are injured and put Roy back in nets.

Whoever suggest Gomez is on the right track.
Hopefully he the other team runs him is also injured and remains permanently on LTIR.

Madam Kadri 11-19-2011 01:19 AM

Not enough flexibility. Also too slow.

I can already picture Plekanec on the point during the PP in full goalie gear.

You don't think we have more to worry about than our backend? Like maybe goaltending?

What i want to know is, if his injury won't let him play defense, how could it let him play goalie ?
