Bettman, go screw.

I don't really know the technical details of a "lockout".

What would happen if all 30 owners didn't vote unanimously to shut down the league? Are there any other options besides a shut-down? For instance, could an owner field a team of scrubs?

Fletch 09-15-2004 01:13 PM

Who would the team of scrubs play?

If five owners do it, it obviously wouldn't make sense because there would be no league of scrubs and putting together a schedule would be difficult. I'd assume that some sort of majority would have to agree to the lockout for it to take hold.

Although we've known this will happen for a while, so it's not unexpected, the reality of it really sucks now more than it did last week, or even this morning. And now the waiting game.............................................. ....................ah, waiting game sucks, let's play hungry, hungry hippo...

by his contract as given to him by the Board of Governors, Bettman only needs 8 votes to establish the lock out.

There won't be any wildcat owners...

You could see scrubs playing a year from now under a "new" NHL though.
Although I think the probability is low.

btw...it was unanimous !

bettman only needs 8 votes to approve or veto a proposed cba but he didn't need ANY votes for a lockout...they gave him the power to shutdown the league on his own without any input from the 30 owners, this vote just shows they support the decision

there will be no games so if you want to field a team of scrubs to sit at home and not play then i'm sure you could do that...
