I actually like Valk. Honestly last night I considered starting a "what do we have in Gary Valk" thread sort of as a joke.

TARS 11-26-2011 11:54 AM

In the post game shows, Valk just sounds like some dude at a bar trying to vent about the game. He struggles to get his point across and doesn't ever seem to come up with it until Taylor has already started talking again, then he interrupts.

Some friends and I made a drinking game where you drink every time he shrugs. Poor decision on our part.

JBIZ14 11-26-2011 11:58 AM

Best- Paul Carson
Worst- Dan Russell

kevinsane 11-26-2011 12:10 PM

Worst-Neil Macrae (bitter and negative)
Tony Gallagher-same
Dan Russell-same
David Pratt-same
Garry Valk-has a point, but 60 minutes isn't enough for him to make it.
Jeff Patterson-worst voice/cadence/phrasing EVER
Joey Kenward-Junior B volunteer Dad calibre play by play
The Moj-Sounds like a dumb jock
Don Taylor (used to be a "best", but his shtick exceeded it's "best before" date at least half a decade ago)

Best-Jim Robson
John Shorthouse
Jim Hughson
They just call the games. And do it well.

Lucbourdon 11-26-2011 12:15 PM

Is rick ball considered a media guy? cause hes by far the best

lindgren 11-26-2011 12:22 PM

Best ever: Jim Taylor

Newspapers are media.

Forgot him. Yeah, he's good.
I actually don't mind Taylor. He's upbeat and funny, but the shtick is tired. And WTF with the hair?

Yeah, he was awesome. Face made for paper, he once described himself.
JP MCConnell was great for Lions coverage.

Bernie Pascall was BRUTAL doing PBP for the Canucks during the days of sporadic BCTV coverage. Utter facepalm. Mark Lee School of Monotonic Delivery.

LickTheEnvelope 11-26-2011 12:38 PM

I like Tomlinson, Ball and Ferraro. For some reason I really like Brad May on Sportsnet too... He just seems like a great guy to talk hockey with. Oh and best ever was certainly Jim Robson.

I dislike Russel, Patterson and actually am starting to dislike Blake Price more and more...

petrishriekandgo 11-26-2011 12:42 PM

Best:
- Taylor (he was awesome last night. When Joey Crabb scored he said "not bad for a guy who can only skate sideways")
- Ferraro
- Ball
- Mac T
- Farhan
- That guy who does the StraightJAB's ( ;) )

Worst:

- Russel
- McCrae
- Arash Madani

PRNuck 11-26-2011 12:46 PM

Personally I hate everything Ed Willes writes.

wavaxa2 11-26-2011 01:23 PM

I always enjoyed Tom Mayenknecht's show, and for PBP, Jim Robson.

Worst... hmm, there's so many to choose from, maybe Shane Foxman?

Bruizer99 11-26-2011 01:55 PM

Squire Barnes makes me laugh but i cant stand Jay janower

Free Kassian 11-26-2011 02:03 PM

Russell is by far the worst, and it's not because he's not a cheerleader for the Canucks but because his bitterness and jealousy shines through whenever he talks about the team. He's not a professional.

Really? REALLY? Don Taylor is the worst by far. I can't stand his face, his voice, or anything he has to say.

He ruins Sportsnet Connected for me.

RainbowDeathBunny 11-26-2011 03:12 PM

Anyone remember Gary Mason when he worked as a sports columnist for the Sun? I really enjoyed his pieces. Worst is McRae.

KahunaBaby 11-26-2011 03:52 PM

Back in the day Dan Russell was pretty good but he is at least ten years past his shelf life.

I like Shorty. He's no Jim Robson but he was better than Jim Hughson when he was here.

Oh and the worse...got to be Steve Darling hands down. Did the guy even like sports?

Mason was Burkie's buddy and it was Mason who broke the Mark Crawford hire/Mike Keenen fire from the 90's.

JerkChicken 11-26-2011 04:45 PM

Best: Jim Robson (AINEC)

Worst: Jeff Patterson (AINEC)

Lol, I remember when Sportspage was the poor man's Sportsdesk. Those were the days.

Classic Taylor when he would he would do sportpage trivia and give the phone number... " call 280 - 25 and a couple of donald brashears"

JuniorNelson 11-26-2011 07:33 PM

Clancy Loranger was the Ring Lardner of Vancouver.

Hyack57 11-26-2011 11:56 PM

Wow. Not a single mention of Jason Botchford? Ever catch his Studs (said with a lisp) and Duds on TSN? The guy is the TMZ / Perez Hilton of hockey. His head bobbles back and forth and he has such a de-masculanated voice it's unnerving to watch.
