I mean, we haven’t scored a lot of goals, we haven’t produced a lot of chances for, so sometimes if you jumble the lines it will spark some new chemistry with some players. That’s for the coaches to decide, and players play. We’ve all played with each other, for the most part, so it’s just a matter of finding ways to get more opportunities offensively. It’s a double-edged sword. It’s much more difficult making plays coming out of your own end. But making plays, just crossing the blue line on the offensive side, you can cut, you can do the slant pass onto the guy’s stick, and it’s a lot easier to drive wide. Last night, I had a couple chances where I got a step on a guy — they made good plays and I didn’t get to the net — but on the right side it’s much more difficult to get around the guy wide. When I’m on my backhand, I can protect the puck a lot better. There’s a lot more options on the offensive side of the puck. I just have to take more reps in practice. If you look, even this year, my best chances are when I get the puck coming off my left side. Like I said, it’s more difficult making plays out of my zone, but that’s just a matter of getting reps and working on it. It’s just like anything else. Pulling pucks off the walls as a right winger, I’m used to it because I’ve been doing it for an extended period of time. It’s just a matter of adjusting."

It’s just burying that opportunity once in a while that seems to be the difference for us right now. Any time in this league if you can keep a team to two goals or less, you’ve got to like your chances for a point and hopefully a win. It wasn’t the case tonight; I thought their goalie [Corey Crawford] played well. We missed a few big chances."

Then they won a faceoff to make it 2-1. After that, we had four or five tremendous looks and we are just having a tough time finding the back of the net right now. There’s not a better look that you could hope for in a couple of those situations, but it’s just not going in. It’s the extra passes that are not a good thing for us right now. We want to get pucks to the net. We have to score some greasy, ugly goals, as they say, and that might be the crack in the door and we can kick it open and start to feel more comfortable scoring goals."

You end up watching them, and watch the game over this morning, and they shoot the puck from everywhere. They’re getting pucks to the net from the neutral zone. A guy like Patrick Sharp is, I would consider a pretty good goal scorer in the league, and he’s putting pucks to the net from outside the circle on a consistent basis. All they’re looking for is to bring people to the net for second and third opportunities. That’s an attitude that we have to get settled on, on a consistent basis, is to simplify the game. Stop trying to do the extra pass, the extra pretty play, trying to beat guys. More pucks to the net. That will get their D turned around, and that brings us in there and hopefully we can feed off it."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Need a strong showing here. I don't like our lines against someone like the Sharks, would have been a better experiment against a non division rival who wasn't playing quite as well, but hopefully it either works or Murray makes adjustments soon in the game. Let's do our best to walk away with 2 points here. GO KINGS!

FWIW... Zues is out of the lineup today.

KingsKnight 11-28-2011 02:55 PM

It would be huge to get the 4pt win today, and it's a pivotal game in terms of team morale. I'm expecting a big game from Kopi based on his frustrations last game, and I'm excited to see if there's any Richards-Gagne magic. I'm still not sold on the third line, but Clifford has looked better as of late, and maybe with Lokti at center we'll get to see him play his game. The one thing I'm scared of is San Jose taking advantage of the Johnson-Green pairing.

Jason Lewis 11-28-2011 03:02 PM

Extra Ticket for tonight's game
I am going to tonight's game tonight but my usual partner (my son) is bailing out on me, he is too frustrated by the Kings' play of late...I told him he needs to lower his expectations for this year, as I have, since it is clear that these guys cannot hit each other with nice crisp passes (at least not yet so far this year).

I have an extra ticket for tonight's game. It's free. If you want to go, PM me. First come, first serve. I will hand deliver it to you outside of Staples at 6:45 tonight.

Anze Kopitar (and Mike Richards) have literally put this team on their back and carried them all season long. They are seriously the reasons we are not a laughable team at this point. And what is Anze's reward for all his hard work so far? Trent ****ing Hunter...

Terry Murray is an embarrassment at this point. So sick of this.
