The new (but somehow very old ;)) found "Berliner SC Preussen" lost the first game in the "Oberliga" against the Dresdner Eislöwen 2:4. Doug Murray and Martin Lapointe with the goals for Berlin.
Dresden wants to promote to the "2. Liga", so nothing to get mad about.
Next game is on sunday vs the "Hassfurt Sharks" - 1st home game.

GO PREUSSEN!

i always have to laugh when reading their names on the preussen roster. :D

it's sad they lost their first game, but i'm pretty sure they'll play a good season. i don't know if they're already good enough to promote, but a good season in the oberliga would be satisfying.

Yeah, Martin Lapointe should ROCK in the Oberliga!

They had some troubles in the pre-season (what else is new?) - they had very few training units in the Deutschlandhalle and the team is completely new. But given circumstances they played some very solid games in the pre.
I'm really looking forward for this season - a feeling I didn't have for al long time.

Looks somewhat expected. No surprises.

EHCler 09-17-2004 09:44 PM

Nice to see Munich starting the season with a win. :handclap:

Nice 4 point Debut for Greilinger for Mannheim.
Good to see Koslow getting a chance to replace Mueller in Krefeld.

ALF AmericanLionsFan 09-17-2004 11:55 PM

Disappointing loss to begin the season for the Lions, but they'll be back!! :D Nice two point game for Lebeau to begin the year.

Bon Esprit 09-18-2004 02:48 PM

I have a question. Are there any restrictions for foreign players in the DEL. I mean can DEL teams dress as much NHLers like they want?

Sanderson 09-18-2004 04:48 PM

No, 11 foreigners can play at the same time.
There is a limitation of 12 licenses. If a team would sign 4 NHLers and they would leave after the lockout is over, they would have to play with 8 foreigners for the rest of the season. (If the lockout ends before the season)

In other countries less foreigners are allowed to play, but they can sign as many as they want to. That's why German teams are more hesitant to sign NHL-players.

Can anybody tell me the goal scorers in that game, or where I can find stats for SC Mittelrhein-Neuwied. My buddy Tyson Mulock is playing for that team.

Thank you :)

Here is the homepage: Mittelrhein-Neuwied

There is a headline about the first game ("Gelungener Saisonauftakt..."). Click on "Ganze News lesen" and you will get a recap of the game. Mulock scored the 3-1 in an 8-3 win.

For stats go to "Saison" and then "Scorerliste".

The league-homepage is: Oberliga Nord-Ost

On the right are the standings, schedule, stats, players and teams, but I don't know how often they update.

Sanderson 09-19-2004 01:35 PM

Some surprising results today.

Krefeld beats Düsseldorf 3-2
Ingolstadt destroys Berlin 5-0, MacDonald and Sturm score
Iserlohn beats Kassel 5-3 after giving up a three goal lead

Tronador 09-19-2004 01:48 PM

I was still very impressed by Matzka, Lapointe and Popp....and Nachtmann(Hassfurt) had some good saves today.

Hopefully we won't win only at home......... :teach:

On the Preussen-board he was voted for 3rd star - behind the two goalscorers.
I think Tronador can confirm that. ;)

The season has begun and what do I see but Premiere doesn't have a contract with the DEL??? Where the heck can you see any games now? Are any of the Bavarian channels showing any games?

In any case, who else thinks the Freezers are planning to announce a big signing? I just can't imagine them expecting to let Greig go without having a big replacement planned. They were lacking offense WITH Greig in the line-up, so whoever replaces him better be coming with some big-time promise!

:dunno:

As far as I know, the Freezers have entered the Dany Heatley sweepstakes. Allegedly, one of the reasons for cutting Greig was to free up some money for Heatly (or another big signing). But Capla wants Heatley to commit to the Freezers for the whole season, not just for the duration of the lockout. In my eyes, making such an offer to a player like Heatley is outright ridiculous! Unless Capla changes his mind he you won't see Heatley in a Freezers uniform. However, I guess the Freezers will sign a high calibre player in the near future.

Let's all celebrate the Lions first victory of the season. Hip Hip Hurray!!
