Could Randy Carlyle be The Guy?

Could Randy Carlyle be a match for our team?

Could be an effective contrast with the more low-key TM.

Whadda ya' all think?

And yeah, there's a poll.

Sorry about the puppy.

ibleedkings 12-09-2011 12:43 PM

Hell yes!

BigBrown 12-09-2011 12:53 PM

Isn't he a dump and chase kind of coach? I thought people hated that.

eleventy 12-09-2011 12:53 PM

Maybe, but no doubt, that would be extremely awkward seeing him behind the bench.

Ziggy Stardust 12-09-2011 12:57 PM

Maybe he can turn Dustin Brown into a man.

Perhaps Dustin is merely suffering from LOW-T.

Just give him his dfaily shot.

Better yet, just make a vaccine out of a sample of either Cam Neely's or Pat Verbeek's blood, and give DB regular injections of it.

Can't hurt.:sarcasm:

He is a big body grind style coach.

But the one thing he displays that TM doesn't....is accountability. And the guy isn't afraid to be pissed off.

Reaper45 12-09-2011 01:52 PM

For the way this team is made up, absolutely.

kingscourt26 12-09-2011 02:00 PM

He was a solid 2 way coach with a cup on his resume. I'm going to be pissed if we let another great coach slip out from under us.

Hitchcock, Tippett and Brucie B say hi.

DocWest 12-09-2011 02:03 PM

We'd have to wash the stink of Duck off him first, but he would definitely be better than a guy like Stevens.

SuperAlmeida 12-09-2011 02:07 PM

Mark Morris! He has deserved it!

Telos 12-09-2011 02:16 PM

Meh. At this point, anyone could have a positive impact with the Kings. I think Carlyle would be a step in the right direction and wouldn't wince at his hiring. I'm open minded to looking around at someone else or some fresh blood throughout the minors as well. We just need someone who is not a pushover, rational, and can think the modern game.

Not so sure about that. I remember Ducks fans being furious at how Getzlaf and his buddies were coddled when they needed a good benching... I don't know first hand though.

Josh Deitell 12-09-2011 02:49 PM

I'm all for Bob Boughner coming in and attempting to pull a Mike Yeo.

EDIT: And I would love to see Larionov brought in as an assistant. He is Loktionov's agent, so he does have a bit of a connection to the Kings.

Hitchcock, Tippett and Brucie B say hi.

Hitchcock plays a very defensive style like the Kings play already so I don't see how that would have been an upgrade. Bruce Boudreau couldn't get talented Capitals team to win so I don't see how he'd be any better either.

I personally don't really know enough to have an educated suggestion. I tend to agree with the new blood mantra.

Oddly enough I think Crawford would do well with the current roster...

bobafettish* 12-09-2011 03:07 PM

adam oates is the genius behind the worst PP in the league so i would say no to him.

Fangio 12-09-2011 03:17 PM

Promote Kompon!

on a serious note, wouldn't it be something if a guy like Patrick Roy came in?

Based on his role with Quebec, I think if Roy were to jump to the NHL, he'd want full control. Dean's
job, maybe TM's too.
