Well its Helene Elliott and she's usually spot on with her sources, part of me hope its true, another part of me just thinks another hack is just going to take his spot like Stevens. I kind of feel bad for Terry Murray, you know the guy has put in his best in L.A. he just couldn't get the team further than they are.

The only thing in there beyond just pure speculation is "People familiar with the situation but not authorized to comment publicly" ...

Interesting. Who could that be?

kingsofLA 12-12-2011 12:31 AM

I guess Santa is for real

Cook24 12-12-2011 12:31 AM

Plz god let this be true, even if it means someone like Stevens takes over, we need SOME kind of change.

Shellz 12-12-2011 12:32 AM

Oh please please please.

DAkings20 12-12-2011 12:34 AM

Watch them go on a winning streak to save his job haha

GKJ 12-12-2011 12:36 AM

Who could they be looking at?

I hope they're not pegging Stevens. They should just leave him doing what he's doing with the defensemen. Although when Stevens took over the Flyers, his plan was to open up the offense. Unlike when he was here, the Kings have the depth on defense and an actual NHL goaltender, although Martin Biron was reliable when he was our starter.

Telos 12-12-2011 12:38 AM

That's been the rumor. I am fine with it not being Carlyle. I am also fine with Dean taking his time, as this likely really is his last coach hiring unless the team becomes wildly successful and finds the job his for the long-term future. I am hoping it is some fresh blood and no one rehashed around the league.

The linked article says they might use Stevens on an interim basis but don't view him as a long-term replacement. Also says they're not interested in Randy Carlyle. Hmmm.

CTKingsFan 12-12-2011 12:41 AM

John Hynes is the guy that I like the Kings to get!

DAkings20 12-12-2011 12:41 AM

So do people think this is official or will DL change his mind if they start picking up W's?

kingsfan28 12-12-2011 12:41 AM

Its pretty clear Murrays done.

Lombardi's going to the east coast with the team. Maybe DL wants to stop off in Philly and see what they have to offer as far as coaches go.

DocWest 12-12-2011 12:43 AM

I really hope this is true, but it's a little troubling that it says the Kings don't have a replacement in mind. WTF are they doing over there? The people on this forum have already started to narrow down choices. Whatever happens, I just hope Stevens doesn't get the job since he's just another Murray clone.

I think Dean knows Murray has to go. A couple of wins shouldn't change that.

It's hard not to excited though. Bleh.

Telos 12-12-2011 12:44 AM

The only former NHL coach I would have liked to see is Carlyle. Outside of him, I think we should look in the minors, get someone trained in this era with passion.

This didn't just start. For Elliott to get wind of it, it has been going around for a while. Their mind has already been made up, they just need to find the guy they are willing to bet it all on.

Agreed. Either a proven winner, or somebody like Bylsma.

It's believed Kevin McCarthy shot as an NHL head coach is coming sooner rather than later. I don't think that time is now though. Thing is that you probably can't hire him without cleaning everyone else out. He didn't come here until Laviolette was hired.

DAkings20 12-12-2011 12:47 AM

Gonna be awkward if Terry reads the paper tomorrow eh? haha

FrozenKing18 12-12-2011 12:49 AM
