Remember when fans wanted to let the Sedins become UFAs and sign Hossa and Gaborik?
2.5 years ago in the summer of 2009, the Sedin twins were within 24 hours of becoming UFAs. Rumour had it that Brian Burke was eager to sign them in Toronto, and the Canucks plan B was to sign Hossa and Gaborik.
If Gillis hadn't at the last minute flown to Sweden and got them under contract, we could very easily be watching the Sedins dominate us tonight while playing for Toronto. |
Attempt to sign Gaborik/Hossa/Cammaleri

We could have ended up with NOTHING. Our team would've been absolutely ****ed. |
Those people were idiots then and they're even bigger idiots now.

Wanted to get rid of them for their lack of playoff production
they were always good int he regular season |
Proper thread title:
Remember when The Pauser / y2canucks wanted to let the Sedins become UFAs and sign Hossa and Gaborik and Cammelleri? Yeah. I do. |

I thank God for the Sedins every morning. |

Of course no one is going to admit to saying that. I remember in 2005 debating with fans of opposing teams who said that the Sedins would never be more than marginal second liners. Looks like I was right, they were wrong. |

Well, I remember when the Leafs fans here wanted to sign all 4 of them

Which fans? Likely only those who rarely watched the Sedins play.
Gillis should never have let those guys get so close to free agency. It bugs me that Luongo got a lifetime contract while these guys were almost allowed to walk because Gillis wouldn't give them the term they wanted. Right after the Sedins turn around and give $1.5M to the Children's Hospital in the classiest move ever. After an Art Ross each they still don't get the respect they deserve around the league. Bottom line is that these are two guys who should retire in Vancouver Jerseys. |
Remember when Gaborik bought a house here and therefore we signed him?
|
Vancouver_2010 would probably still trade them for Gaborik and Cammalleri.

The thing is we probably could've had the Sedins for 5 yrs at 5-5.5 had we signed them at the begining of the year. |
Pauser's irrational hatred for the Sedins is the same as his irrational love for Luongo. The guy will use every opportunity to either trash or praise them.

Why we didn't land Turris
I suppose that MG couldn't offer a 2nd round pick and defenseman to Phoenix. CBC reported 8 teams had offers with 3 seriously interested. I suppose our forward depth didn't produce an immediate need.
Why do you think Turris ended up in Ottawa. |

Why did we even want Turris? Bust.
|
It's simple.
We don't need a player like Turris to make us a better team. We don't have available ice time to give Turris a chance to make an impact and make mistakes along the way. Had we acquired him before the season started, sure, he would have a chance to make the team. |
canucks don't need Turris. I'm glad MG didn't pull the trigger on him. What we need is another steady defenceman.
