Caps vs Preds - Verizon Center - 7pm - 12/20/11

Everyone snoozing on putting up a GDT? Well based on how the Caps are playing now it can't be bad luck for a knucklehead like me to start one.

Line combinations from yesterday:

Johansson-Backstrom-Ovechkin
Brouwer-Halpern-Semin
Chimera-Laich-Ward
Hendricks-Perreault/Beagle-Knuble

D pairing from the Avs game:

Alzner-Carlson
Erskine-Wideman
Hamrlik-Orlov

Where is Lloyd hiding? Oh well, JUST ****ING WIN! :yo:

CrashTheNet9 12-20-2011 09:27 AM

Capitals, please make Knuble's 1000th game memorable for him.

txpd 12-20-2011 09:33 AM

so...katie reporting ov skating with halpern and brouwer and laich and brouwer. no mention of backstrom or johansson....and the thunder rolls....hmm mmm mmm...the thunder rolls.

RandyHolt 12-20-2011 09:54 AM

Dale is changing up the lines to mask what he wants to do, me thinks. If Ovi is back at LW telling himself on every rush, don't do my move, don't do my move, I am going to be pissed.

txpd 12-20-2011 10:10 AM

i should have taken that bet

RandyHolt 12-20-2011 10:22 AM

He has to be lining up at RW, but can score from anywhere anytime. The bet was open, you backed away. 66% chance of winning not enough I suppose.

What are the odds he scores in a game at his peak, barely over 50%. Nowadays, odds are he scores from anywhere including ENG, he only has about a 33% chance.

You obviously wanted even better odds than 66%, assuming you wanted him to score to score from within a specific area. It was about his mindset, not having to tell himself, don't do my move; not scoring while standing in a Tex Designated Dot.

I was willing to give out even odds, but no one bit.

Neuvy getting his 3rd start in a row.

Deserves it.

RandyHolt 12-20-2011 11:09 AM

The big question is, are we going to see the debutante tonight.

PuckBuddy 12-20-2011 11:30 AM

Linejuggling? What's next? Ice cream and profanity?

troyerlaw 12-20-2011 11:33 AM

Sweet mother of science! Please, please, please just win. Any which way. I don't care whether GWG is from manos suaves or purruttu or noobs or mojo or baby dino or whoever else, just please, hockey gods, please let it be a Cap who scores it.

bishop12 12-20-2011 11:45 AM

1-0 Preds

Where did you get that Advatar?

I am glad Dale didnt sit Neuvy over what had to be one of the flukiest goals I have ever seen. Gotta give Nuevy a break on the one engrossed in the scotoma.

IafrateOvie34 12-20-2011 12:06 PM

Interesting line combinations. Nice to see Beagle back and we get a good chance to see Majo on the wing. I expect this will be a tight game. All I ask is they put in effort and of course win. We can't be wasting points.

I was thinking 2-1 but this might be closer. Looks like Neuvirth will have to pitch a shutout. No soft goals tonight please. Get that sparkling .890 save % up.

Vladiator16* 12-20-2011 12:42 PM

To beat super defensive structured team like Nashville we would need to work extra hard, have cohesiveness, passion and desire to ****ing win (the exact things that we lack right now)... they won 5 straight (beat Detroit and St. Louis in last 2). Not looking too good for our boys...

Hopefully we can get some luck (and goaltending) and keep hanging with them in 0-0 or 1-1 type of exiting games we've been producing recently and than crap out SO win!

Yey Caps!!!

I think Colorado game put me in depression or something...

capsfan528 12-20-2011 12:50 PM

caps have got to push the pace tonight and wear down nashvilles top pairing of weber and suter..obviously thats tough to do but if Majo and Backs are playing with ovi, they should be able to dump the puck behind the goal line and put pressure on those d-men to move the puck, hopefully causing turnovers...althoght neuvy playing well in his last 4 starts at over a .920 Save percentage..

honestly just win tonight

Did you want Dale to keep the lines the same all season long? They've been struggling to produce offense, of course the lines are going to get changed.

EYEuhFRAYtee 12-20-2011 12:59 PM

If your having problems sleeping tonight be sure to put on the game. I doubt I'll make it through the second period.

how do you push the pace v a team who traps?

CapitalsCupFantasy 12-20-2011 01:31 PM

Don't suck, score more than 1 goal, don't roll over at the first sign of adversity....

Too much to ask?

Here comes either a lights out performance, or an absolute stinker. The big question is if the offense can put up a couple of goals early and give the goalie a little confidence that 1 goal isn't going to cause the team to feel sorry for itself and fall apart.
