Getting back into hockey
I'm sure there is a ton of threads like this so I apologize for adding another.

I played hockey for 6 years (3 ice 3 roller) and I want to start up again. Its been a long time since I have played and I'm out of the loop on all the equipment. I'm on a tight budget and need some new stuff. I'm looking for skates, helmet, stick, shin guards, pants, and some gloves. I plan on only playing rec and joining some mens leagues during the summer. So far I decided on the Bauer 4.0's. I was wondering if you guys think those are good for someone who will be playing like me. I'm also wondering what equipment I should get. I don't mind buying used if the price is right. Should I bother getter cheap ccm gear at sports authority?

I would go with used gear. Why spend a load of money on shoulder pads and pants, items that don't really matter unless you were playing check hockey. These used sports stores have walls and walls of equipment to pick through. Now skates are a different story. I would try used first, but if you can't find a pair that fit perfectly get some new. Skates are the most important factor in your experience playing again.

Check the sticky up top on beginner's gear.

How do you guys feel about the 4.0's?

For which piece of gear?

Should have clarified.

The bauer vapor 4.0 skates. It doesn't seem much different from the 5.0's and I've been told that the 4.0's will help me develop my skating skills easier.
