Methodology

1. I compiled all the candidates suggested by posters in Management Thread 2.0 and 3.0.
2. *I didn't exclude any ridiculous suggestions*
3. I wrote the candidates in the same order I found them in those threads.
Edit 1: 4. Deleted
Edit 2: 5. Filtering coaching candidates: Out: Demers.
Edit 3: 6. Filtering GM candidates: Out: Bowman, Lemaire.
Edit 4:
7. Unavailable and not going anywhere: Out: Trotz, Babcock, Julien, Yeo, Quenneville, Poile, Shero, Chiarelli.
Edit 5: 8. Will reconsider an exclusion if any evidence that it's a serious candidacy.
Edit 6:
9. I'll update this list by adding a name either if:
a) a news source suggests a serious candidate, or
b) more than one posters say he's their first choice, or
c) 3 posters suggest a candidate

To the Mods: I created this thread because the Management Thread was cluttered with coaching philosophy, politics, social commentaries, etc... It'll obviously be at your discretion if this thread should be merged or should stand alone.

Methodology

1. I took all the suggested names I could find in the Management Threads.
2. I didn't exclude any ridiculous proposals (someone on the list might have passed away for all I know)
3. Besides Cunneyworth and Gauthier, I wrote the names in the order I found them.
4. Please feel free to add all the names I might have missed.

Coach

Randy Cunneyworth
Randy Carlyle
Michel Therrien
Patrick Roy
Guy Boucher
Clément Jodoin

Lindy Ruff
Mike Babcock
Jacques Lemaire
Claude Julien
Benoit Groulx
Martin Raymond
Mike Yeo
Larry Robinson
Guy Carbonneau
Alain Vigneault
Bob Hartley
Denis Savard
Jacques Demers
Kirk Muller
Marc Crawford

Joel Quenneville

GM

Pierre Gauthier
Pierre McGuire
Patrick Roy

Trevor Timmins

You can erase 95% of your names, and some are way too old.

Damphousse as GM and Roy as head coach seems the most possible ones.

Habs 4 Life 12-22-2011 03:00 PM

Pierre McGuire as GM

Benoit Groulx as Head Coach

If thats the case, I may just start cheering for a different team.

The guy lives in California (has some important business with his buddy Luc Robitaille) and he is making millions as a player agent. You won't attract him in MTL.

Crawford has been fired from how many teams so far ?

habs03 12-22-2011 03:14 PM

Best case, Julien Brisebois as GM, Jim Nill as "ast GM", Brisebois has is more of a the money guy, so Jim Nill is really call all the shots in regards to player personnel.

As for coach, Beniot Groulx, or maybe Martin Raymond.

m00ks 12-22-2011 03:14 PM

I'm just praying Guy Boucher gets fired from Tampa so we can sign him. System coach for system players. Probably our best bet to prevent us from falling into the abyss.

Coach: P.Roy
GM : P.Roy

Now you're going to see good stuff every week.

Krnage 12-22-2011 03:15 PM

Benoit brunet for coach :sarcasm:

SeriousHabs 12-22-2011 03:16 PM

I just glimpsed at the list, I saw Trotz, and I assumed that this is probably a humoristic post. To test my theory, I decided to search for Babcock's name. There it was. So yes, this is a pretty funny thread.

ClasslessGuy 12-22-2011 03:17 PM

why would someone want Pierre McGuire as a gm?

NotProkofievian 12-22-2011 03:18 PM

Nill for GM. He's the only candidate on that list that I see as having a technical leg up on what Gauthier's done so far.

Poach Boucher from Tampa if at all possible. There's one Franco coach that I can agree would definitely be one of the best candidates available, if he were to become available.

habitue* 12-22-2011 03:19 PM

Pierre McGuire as GM

and

Ted Nolan as coach !

Ah yes when Hockey Quebec actually produced decent ones. Hockey Quebec has been brutal though. Maybe you should protest to them.

Coldplay 12-22-2011 03:34 PM

WAIT WAIT WAIT, now the GM has to be bilingual too?
