It's no surprise. Theres no way he can screw this up..hell have a decent start but wake me up when he beats a playoff team.

Everlong 12-28-2011 03:59 PM

The 2 points are there for the taking. Just depends on how much they want it.

cause Reimer is our No #1 starter, if you like it or not

and plus Gus wasn't that great last night either

Suntouchable13 12-28-2011 04:07 PM

Have to win a game like this. No excuses. Just like the game against the Isles.

The Reaper 12-28-2011 04:09 PM

gotta score at least 4 goals before they score one to put them away

Yeeeup.

Big game for the entire team to have a bounce-back night. As a fan, I expect full-throttle hockey in this one.

i was half kidding, but reimer has not been very good. and 3 games is a pretty small sample size, so his great numbers could change very fast.

Although we pulled away with a win, he WAS pretty shaky against the Isles.

I was hoping for Gus to get the start, but whatever. Just gotta win this.

Mansfield 12-28-2011 04:36 PM

we need the win

i think going with reimer is the right choice

TML g u n n e R s* 12-28-2011 05:05 PM

ron..... what happened to putting in the deserving goalie in net...

they make it seem like reims has put up solid numbers in the NHL for 3 years now//.

w.e we will win either way.

winther88 12-28-2011 05:16 PM

What the heck has Gus got to do to get a start here?!! This is getting ****ing ridiculous! :shakehead

When Reims plays good, you have to ride with the hot hand. When he is terrible he gets his chance for "revenge". What about riding the goalie that has been playing awesome for most of the year and especially the last couple of weeks instead of playing Optimus when he's had two good games since the opening in october against the Habs. He was great against Kings and Sabres at home but has been meh in almost all other games.

Seems like Gus just can't buy a break with Wilson and his terrible coaching!

The Reaper 12-28-2011 05:20 PM

The road trip continues Thursday against the Hurricanes with Ron Wilson announcing after practice that James Reimer will be back in net for the Blue and White. This season, Reimer has struggled away from Air Canada Centre posting a 1-3-0 record in six games. He has a 4.26 GAA with a .852 SV%.

With the Leafs in Winnipeg on Saturday, Wilson was asked if Reimer will play the final two games of the trip:

"He's going to play tomorrow and we will go from there," Wilson said. "It's about playing well and the Monster has played really well when he has gone in there. I'm just trying to get James his reps so he can catch up. He should be a big part of our success in the second half."

You guys act like no goalie has ever had a bad game before. Wow. Shameful. Reimer is our number one.

it's hfboards leaf fans

one bad game the player should be traded
one good game the player should be worshiped

Thomas Malthus 12-28-2011 06:01 PM

I think starting Reimer is the right decision. He was brutal against Florida but he's still getting back into the groove coming off of his injury, goaltenders have bad games occasionally, and it's important to give him a chance to redeem himself and show him that Wilson still has faith in him (especially against a team Reimer's played well against).

Gustavsson played decently in relief of Reimer, he gave the team a chance and made some big saves but he didn't look lights out and in my opinion that last goal should have been a save. Gus should get one of the next couple games though.

The problem is that Reimer was shaky against the Islanders to and has been shaky for the biggest part of the season so far. It's not only about one game.

Gus deserves a shot since he's been playing great the last month. He was much better than Reimer against the Panthers and if he would have started that game we would not have lost.

It's pretty messed up that Gus not gets at least one start at this time. These points are equally important as the one late in the season and I'm afraid that Reims could cost us another "sure win" against the Hurricanes with the way he is playing right now. You should play the goalie that gives you the best chance to win and while 29 other coaches in the league seems to get that Wilson seems to have a problem to understand it.
