This is one of the those lower the expectation bar games.

Who wants to party in CBus after the game?

Currently in 10th place in the East with 40 points, slew a teams just above. Win in Columbus and against the Flames on Tuesday and the Caps will be in 6th place.

Will miss this game. I'm contemplating not even DVRing because every game I've DVR'd in the last month we've lost. I'm not superstitious.

Wtf? I say the same thing, I thought it was me.. Glad its not my dvr. Yeah this is probably a snoozefest game. But on the other hand it would be nice to see the caps put up 6 goals for confidence.

If Green comes back soon, anyone wanna make any bets on how many games he'll last before getting hurt again?

Carlzner 12-31-2011 11:56 AM

I was a little confused by the Holtby picture..

I think it's just a continuation of the random photo posting thing that worked well in the Buffalo GDT.

As I've mentioned in the past, I was there at the old US Air Arena/Capitals Centre in April 1988 when he scored what's considered the greatest goal scored in Capitals History against the Flyers and Ron Hextall in game 7. Caps came back from a 3-0 deficit that night. The white pom poms going in unison with the chant "Hextall, Hextall". Caps crowds were much better then. Hate the crap I hear at the Verizon Center now, "1, 2, it's all your fault", serenading another team's goalie, i.e. when he's let in only one or two goals, and of course the chant "who cares" after the Public Address announcer gives the opponent's scorer. :shakehead Just drives me nuts and then of course the "obvious" folks in the 400 sections where I usually sit who shout "shoot, shoot" anytime one of our players have the puck or "get it outta there" anytime the puck is in the Caps defensive zone.:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

RandyHolt 12-31-2011 12:33 PM

Ref do you remember Dale grabbing the mic from Rimer or whichever HTS guy we had down at the tunnel, and speaking of our teams historic choking traditions, and screaming into the mic,

"I DON'T CHOKE!"

I think I got chills when he said that. Being at the game, you easily may have missed it.

cbjgirl 12-31-2011 12:39 PM

Probable CBJ lines:

Nash - Carter - Johansen (they've been together for 2 games now and have looked pretty good)
Prospal - Vermette - Letestu
Umberger - Pahlsson - Dorsett
Brassard - MacKenzie - Boll

Not sure how the defense will shake out (the lines below are guesses). Wisniewski broke his ankle (blocked a shot) last game. Nikitin has the "flu" and may or may not play. David Savard has been called up from Springfield.

Tyutin - Nikitin
Methot - Moore
Clitsome - Johnson
Savard

Mason in net
Sanford has been having hip issues so Mason will probably be starting.

Jackets and Caps fan here. I'll be there, and, for once, I'll be happy about the result either way! But, I think that I still have to say "Go Caps!"

Dr John Carlson 12-31-2011 12:43 PM

As much as I hate to say it, we'll probably have a **** game since we are on the road :shakehead

The guy next to me kept shouting for the Caps to "clear it!" every time they touched the puck... even in the neutral zone.

Was there too. Greatest Caps moment ever. Agree about the crowds too, especially the two new 'chants' you mention. Awful and embarrassing. I cringe even when I see it on tv.

even if they dont play like **** on the road and manage to win, you can bet it wont be entertaining so i wouldnt bother if i was you either way. the caps are boring now. unfortunate but tiswhatitis.

couple markers from 8 would be sweet tho. get him feeling like hes not that from the league lead, maybe that will motivate him.
