Sens @ Sabres | Am I allowed to say the score here? Edition

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Smeddy 12-31-2011 10:48 PM

I thought Karlsson was a whole new level of awesome sauce tonight, and I was very impressed with Turris.

Lenny the Lynx 12-31-2011 10:53 PM

Great win. I appreciate all the posts for giving the announcers the opportunity to make so many 'ringing in the new year' puns.

jg729 12-31-2011 10:58 PM

Karlsson.

That's all I'm gonna say

Tundraman 12-31-2011 11:00 PM

I liked Anderson's game tonight. He challenged the shooters. Did you see how far out of the blue paint he came out on some of those shots. Cutting the angles leaves very little net for the shooters. He needs to be aggressive like that all the time.

Hard to find a weak spot, the guys played really well considering it was a back to back. With any puck luck they could have easily won this in regulation by a 2-3 goal margin.

Godinster 12-31-2011 11:11 PM

Lack of energy kind of sucked, but two 40+ shot games in two consecutive nights is pretty damn impressive. Anderson was solid and didn't let any softies in. We've won two games in a row against great goaltending.

Philoops 12-31-2011 11:16 PM

People laughed when I predicted Ottawa 7th and Toronto 11th by the end of the season. I know there is still a lot of time left but I'm not that far off am I?

Complete game from start to finish. Give that man his money.

Asquaredx2 12-31-2011 11:26 PM

Missed the whole game but why did Karlsson play more than 10 minutes more than Cowen tonight?

I thought Cowen had a rough night. I saw a couple of brutal give-aways and bad passes.

Kekumba 12-31-2011 11:39 PM

Karlsson/Kuba were great.

GK 12-31-2011 11:45 PM

1. Karlsson
2. Turris
3. Carkner

The only reason Carks is on that list is because he doesn't score very often.

ShotDownCrosby 12-31-2011 11:55 PM

From the highlights (at work, can't watch :( ), it seems like Anderson did well, we got a ridiculous amount of shots on net, and we WON!!! WOOOO HOOOOO

A great way to end the year!

Yeah. He was handling the puck like a grenade today. Off night for him for sure.

Lehner 01-01-2012 12:42 AM

Don't completely agree....I think it might have had to do with his d partner? Who was it, Lee? There was one play where the guy made a blind pass trying to go behind the net when Cowen was in front of it and then Cowen had to hustle for the puck, then lost it as a result but recovered right away. So his partner seemed to play a role and don't think it was just Cowen. I saw Karlsson make a couple giveaways leading to rushes (one in OT) which is why it'd be nice to keep Cowen with him even if it's an "off night." Those growing pains will happen.

I liked Turris' game too but thought he was a bit lost offensively during OT although defensively he was quick to get back...probably being conservative b/c of 4 on 4.

HSF 01-01-2012 01:26 AM

anyone else reminded of Alfie when they see Turris play?

wicked wrister and always aware of the defensive side of the game and makes good reads in the offensive zone?

i think once turris gets his timing down he is going to be golden he just seems like a smart player

I agree nights like this one that Cowen had are part of his growing pains. He's been like a rock back there - he's a keeper.

Turris looks like he's going to fit in well in Ottawa. I notice him almost every time he's on the ice and he make things happen, but I guess it's easier when you have Alfie on your wing.

Why didn't Daugs play very much tonight? (I missed the 1st period)

Beville 01-01-2012 05:00 AM

Having not really watched the game at all,

My HM go to Carks and Neil... Proves they're more than JUST fighters (More so in the case of Carks, we know Neil can do more than).

All we needed was Z to score the SO winner.

PeterSidorkiewicz 01-01-2012 06:21 AM

Anderson is my BOY **** off and show respect you ass clowns.
Discuss.

Amazing what happens when he starts to log some good stats. Our team wins... What a concept!

This team is all about character. Glad to see Anderson is all about character too.:yo:

The Turret 01-01-2012 08:21 AM

Karlsson AND Kuba as 1st stars
Turris second and sir Jason Spezza as third.

We really had a 1-2 punch with Spezza and Turris last night, we should have been up with like 4-1 after the first. Condra makes any line good.

And 6 posts in one game, I was facepalming all game.

c_mak 01-01-2012 09:15 AM

The back check play from Karlson was superawesometastic. Kuba played very well. Anyone else notice Phillips ice time going down? I thought Cowen was a little off, but he has been playing with Gonchar, might have affected his comfort level.
Turris, last night was his best game in a Sens uniform. When he came over from Phoenix there were lots of knocks against him. Specifically defensive awareness, play along the wall, and passing. his defence has been good from the start, his four assists speak to his passing, but last night he got dirty. It may have lots to do with Alfie playing on his wing, but still I am more pleased than I was when I heard about the trade.

KarlSen 01-01-2012 09:21 AM

Turris impressed me with his vision on the ice. Call it ice awareness or whatever, but it doesn't show up on the score sheet or the stats but watching him handle the puck he clearly knows the situation and where things are at. hmmm, actually looking at his stats since the trade, it IS showing up. :D

Solid game by Anderson, great rebound control.

Condra isn't getting a lot of talk, but 2 assists on both goals, his confidence is growing.
