Just announced it on NHL Network too.

BroadwayBlues 01-01-2012 02:35 PM

Great.

I said it before but I think the game looks better under the lights anyway.

JediBananas 01-01-2012 02:37 PM

I agree...under the lights would be nice

Mr Atoz 01-01-2012 02:42 PM

How disgraceful to change the time of a game the day before the game. What about people that have travel reservations?

Absolutely agree. Its more "magical" for the players too to be out there in the crisp evening air. Only thing is the lights are usually more glaring than the sun. Should really only be an issue in the third period though.

Even more excited for this game now. Also, for the record, I'm very confident about this game. I think we're going to rip bobrovsky a new one. I'm sure Jagr and Giroux will be great, but we've gotta take advantage of philly's defense and goaltending issues.

Also, gotta say the rangers winter classic jerseys have really grown on me. They look great on the players with all their gear on. (just saw some pre-practice pictures)

Interesting point. But we're only talking two hours and I would think for an outdoor game people would have already added some extra time to take possible weather conditions into consideration.

Due to work constraints I made plans only to go down for the day. Luckily my train coming back doesn,t leave Philly until 8:19. I took this into account when planning the day but I was still hoping for the 1pm start.

Jumbo* 01-01-2012 03:07 PM

Nice, i get to sleep a little later before i start my trip out :)

NYRSchrute217 01-01-2012 04:00 PM

Disgraceful. Moving trains the day before the game is almost impossible.

Calad 01-01-2012 04:04 PM

This is better for us at least, driving down from LI will avoid any work traffic since we have to leave at 10:30 or so to make the gate opening instead of 8am.

Petemo 01-01-2012 04:05 PM

Any news on changes to the Rangers road trip/tailgate package?

IBleedNYRBlue 01-01-2012 04:06 PM

What the ****....I might be going to the Knicks game.

Why...

KingWantsCup 01-01-2012 04:17 PM

This throws a wrench into my party plans.

Glennsoe 01-01-2012 04:20 PM

charlie460 01-01-2012 04:25 PM

I'm on the trip. The head guy said he'll be calling my brother and I at 8 tonight to tell us what we're doing tomorrow

2 hours more sleep for me:handclap: (sorry)

charlie460 01-01-2012 04:35 PM

****, I'm going to miss the first and probably second period. It says here that NBC's coverage will still begin at 1 PM and puck drops at 3.

I'm flying home on a 4:30 flight, it's JetBlue so I might be able to catch the end via DirecTV.

It will probably be closer to 3:30 since they will introduce all the players and doing the anthems and stuff starting at 3:00.

Yup. They should take fans' travel schedule into account and not worry about the playing conditions for an actual NHL game.

Sorry, but that's ridiculous.

It's unfortunate but the integrity of the game is way, way, way more important.

I don't disagree with your logic about protecting the game, but, they moved the Alumni game a couple of days ago for the same reason--why not simply announce the change then instead of waiting until the day before? Many people have very tight schedules and have gone out of their way to spend a lot of money to attend the game. It's not professional to wait until the last minute.

Sorry, but if you have a travel schedule that involves going to the game at 1 PM, then jumping on a flight somewhere at 5 PM, then that's your mistake.

Most people, for an event like the winter classic, have their whole day open for it, and the NHL isn't going to risk the integrity of the game for the 1% of people who have some screwed up schedule for that day.
