Burke: "Something is Definitely Brewing"

GM of the Leafs Brain Burke was asked on Sportsnets Fan 590 if "we can expect a trade soon"

He responded with a "yes"

Who could it be?
What are your thoughts, who do you want from the leafs?
Who do specualte the leafs will get?

RaskY 01-11-2012 05:52 PM

JVR to Toronto

Burke ripping off the Ducks again in some capacity.

UFancyHuh 01-11-2012 05:53 PM

I was surprised he didnt flat out deny it like he usually does. Unless he was trollin McGowan something's up.

Leafidelity 01-11-2012 05:53 PM

He mentioned the possibility of moving a young player of one position for another young player of another position as a possibility. Used two 22 year olds as an example.

WTFMAN99 01-11-2012 05:56 PM

I'm curious....i'd really strongly prefer to move Armstrong/Lombardi/Komisarek just more for salary purposes at this point, i'd like to use some of the cash to upgrade our top end talent.

Not sure on Armstrong or Lombardi, but what's Komi worth? From what I saw this season from the few games I've watched, I thought he was playing well.

Highbrow 01-11-2012 06:00 PM

Would Pahlsson be a fit in Toronto to curtail their PK woes?

He has played decent but you can get that play from a 1.5M D. No one is taking him this year, probably next year when his salary is lower than the cap hit.

LOL so true.

Freudian 01-11-2012 06:03 PM

Of course we can expect a trade soon. It's mid January.

Gillis has said that the Canucks are open for business. Canucks and Leafs trade in the works? :sarcasm:

I think this could be pretty likely. Burke has a history with Pahlsson and could be a player he is interested in. not a terrible idea.

Burke always makes trades before the deadline and in jan

so yeah-something is brewing and he is just trying to either raise the value of his players or lower the value of a player he wants

I see this as the most plausible scenario. Is Pahlsson still as good defensively?

Yes, it's definitely a possibility.

I think Burke is after a big fish though.

I think it would take Gardiner going to Vancouver to get Hodgson with the way he's been progressing this year.
