Congrats!

Sydor25 01-12-2012 12:06 PM

Great, now he's going to be worn out by the end of the year. :sarcasm:

Fishhead 01-12-2012 12:08 PM

JQ finally getting some recognition. He is incredibly deserving of this.

I really like Bernier and think he's going to be a great goalie, even a star in the the league. But the season Quick is having has pretty much put that debate to bed.

It feels weird having a goalie this good.

BigBrown 01-12-2012 12:12 PM

An all-star goalie. When was the last time the Kings had one of those? Enjoy it people, I know I am :)

Brad Doty 01-12-2012 12:13 PM

:handclap: is all I can say.

Congrats Quick! Well-deserved!

Sydor25 01-12-2012 12:19 PM

Quick is only 2 shutouts away from tying Rogie's club record of 8. He should break that this season.

Kings have also never had Vezina winnnig goalie.

KingsKnight 01-12-2012 12:20 PM

Well deserved. He's clearly been the best player for the Kings this season. Maybe he'll get more exposure this way.

drugold 01-12-2012 12:21 PM

$$$$ but he does deserve it

DocWest 01-12-2012 12:25 PM

He earned it.

VERY well deserved. Wonder which captain, when they're named, picks him?

Sydor25 01-12-2012 12:29 PM

It would be awesome if Kessel was picked last again.

Quattro 01-12-2012 12:38 PM

Nice

Really nice to see some guys who don't normally get recognition in on this years team.

Quick
Pominville
Edler
Girardi
Lupul
Wideman

for the most part I am cool with their selections. I am sure a lot of those have come in the wake of guys like Crosby, Skinner, Letang, Neal hurt.

And Colorado no reps? Ouch. Couldn't toss Ryan O'Reilley a bone eh? he almost has the same numbers as Ovy lol. No Moulson is a bit surprising also..7th best goal scorer in the league. But the Isle doesn't deserve two reps honestly..

Correction...they got Landeskog in there...

Also, I happened to see this question posed in the comments. Who was the last goalie to represent the Kings in an NHL All-Star Game? The answer: Mario Lessard, in 1981, when the game was at the Forum in Inglewood. That’s the same game in which the entire “Triple Crown Line’’ of Marcel Dionne, Charlie Simmer and Dave Taylor was selected. Only two other goalies have ever been selected to All-Star Games while with the Kings: Terry Sawchuk in 1968 and Rogie Vachon in 1973, 1975 and 1978.
It really is stupendous and Quick really deserves the recognition. Quick is on cruise control. All he has to do is maintain his health and level of play and Bernier is out the door in the offseason after he is celebrating his new contract... We've been waiting for this a long time. I am glad Lombardi stuck to his guns about developing internally rather than going out and trading assets for a stopgap like so many others did.

Extremely well deserved!! Quick has really taken his game to another level this season. Now if the rest of the young guys we are counting on would only join him.

I am not surprised by the fact that Quick is the Kings only representative.

Muzzinga 01-12-2012 01:33 PM

awesome

Its nice the league had some other king to give the spot to instead of the obligatory 'uhhhh i guess Kopitar?' selection

JBernierFan 01-12-2012 01:40 PM

Very awesome and also well deserved. The only sucky thing about having a goalie in the all star game/celebrations, is that they aren't on the ice a lot. I usually hate the All Star game, but I can't wait to see when he gets picked and how he does through the skills (I actually like that part) and his period of the game.

Let's just pray he doesn't get hurt in a fluke thing during the Allstar weekend.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean a lot these days. :)

Not surprised either. Simply because when you are playing for the Kings you have to REALLY deserve the call. Kings don't have any players like Ovechkin, who could have had 4 goals and 8 points and still be an AS participant. Quickster left them no choice but to invite him to the AS game.

It's amazing what a goalie development program will do for you organization.Congrats to Quick!
