" I expect to be coming back next year " - Marty.

Rob Nieds work ethic 01-15-2012 11:26 AM

Awesome! :handclap:

Wingman77 01-15-2012 11:27 AM

I think it speaks volumes when he mentions how much more harder skaters play than goalies and mentions Scott Stevens as an example of a guy who always played hard and then mentions Parise as well

I also found it HILARIOUS that he mentioned Lundqvist as a goalie he likes to watch today after that whole fiasco on the Rangers board a few months back

NJDevs26 01-15-2012 11:37 AM

I wouldn't expect Marty to say anything different at this point, even if he was planning to retire. It would be too much of a distraction to the team.

CerebralGenesis 01-15-2012 11:42 AM

I also expect him back. I also expect Kinkaid/Frazee/Wedge/waterboy1/fan2 to all get looks for potential netminding gigs for the year after

I don't think Frazee has a shot at all

Kinkaid is what 22, 23 and he's seeing more time than Frazee in the AHL

At the beginning of the video was the guy talking about Brodeur becoming a GM in the future?

I agree, and there is too much uncertainty regarding the CBA negotiation for him to say with any degree of certainty whether or not he will come back. This is just to keep the media off his back.

MountainGoat 01-15-2012 12:25 PM

I hope hes back but if he is back I would think Moose wont be, one of our young goalie prospects could learn alot in one year splitting time with Marty

jkrdevil 01-15-2012 12:27 PM

If Marty is back you have to have a back-up capable of playing 30-40 games. That means no kids up to learn. If they are ready to be an NHL goalie fine, but they better be ready

Saugus 01-15-2012 12:28 PM

I hope he's willing to split starts or be the backup, because I don't feel comfortable with him as the starter beyond this year.

Exactly ...he's a veteran and a professional ...and a Devil
Just like when Zach say's things like he wants to come back etc
They aren't gonna make decisions during an interview in January.
They all say positive things about their future and the team

HeliDevil 01-15-2012 02:48 PM

let's just hope this doesn't turn into a favre situation  cause we certainly don't have a rodgers.

Kinkaid has the potential.

RG will show up later and tear you a new one for this comment about Favre, but I agree. I hope Marty doesn't hang on too long.

If he finishes his career with Montreal, I'll have no ill will towards him.

Saugus 01-15-2012 03:19 PM

Neither would I, but I don't want him to play anywhere else. I'd rather if he stayed a lifer.

The Great Dame 01-15-2012 03:30 PM

If so, hopefully as a backup.

forceten 01-15-2012 06:18 PM

I think Kinkaid is ready to play 35-40 games next season.

Oroku Saki* 01-15-2012 06:25 PM

Kinkaid is not ready lol. He'll need another year.

Saugus 01-15-2012 06:27 PM

I can't really judge Kinkaid's fitness yet. For a goalie it's not really like you can give him a cup of coffee down the stretch. He has to sink or swim.

forceten 01-15-2012 06:28 PM

I think it would be better to have him play next season - don't forget, he's older - under Brodeur than wait an extra year and be thrown to the wolves.

I'm also somewhat interested in Ari Ahonen's performance in the SEL and KHL. The only downside is that he turns 32 in a few weeks.

Dr Grant 01-15-2012 06:31 PM

I don't really like the idea of having a rookie starter. I'm expecting us to be one of the top teams in the east next season with the right moves by Lou.

forceten 01-15-2012 06:34 PM

Right. Do like Terreri/Brodeur that first year. 50/30 maybe.
