Erik Cole leading the Habs in points

First of all : :handclap:

Second : was this the best UFA signing in recent memory? Who was better?

Even when he doesn't score he's amazing and that's what counts the most imo.

Andy 01-15-2012 09:59 PM

Great pick up by Gauthier after being heavily criticized by the media and some fans that "Cole couldn't produce without Staal."

Prospector 01-15-2012 10:00 PM

Our best UFA signing since I can't remember..

llamateizer 01-15-2012 10:00 PM

yep great pickup :)

Et le But 01-15-2012 10:01 PM

Gauthier is clueless. :shakehead Some random guy on the internet would do a far better job, because he won the cup with his NHL 12 team.

But yeah, easily our best forward this year. So consistent.

PyrettaBlaze 01-15-2012 10:01 PM

He's the Habs' best player this season. Fantastic signing.

pine* 01-15-2012 10:02 PM

4 years is still long.

Frankenheimer 01-15-2012 10:03 PM

Getting rid of Cam seems like it was good idea as well. Heck, this might balance out in the end. Kaberle trade is looking worse by the day.

Hackett 01-15-2012 10:03 PM

He just comes to work every single night. That is saying alot considering the style of game he plays. In a miserable season, he's been a bright light.

Myron Gaines* 01-15-2012 10:03 PM

If only he was 26 years old...

We have no idea whether it will be long or not.

Kaberle needed a lot of time to adjust in Boston, he became solid in the final. So we can hope that with time he'll adapt and become the player he was in Toronto.

WhiskeySeven 01-15-2012 10:07 PM

HFboards can't go 13 posts without creepy negativity oozing out of the woodwork.

Cole has nothing to do with the Kaberle trade, what the **** is the point of bringing it up??

Cole is a great player and plays to the limits of his ability. Great player, we're lucky to have him.

I'm surprised nobody is talking about Sergei Kostitsyn and O'byrne.

I'd say Gill or Hamrlik.

This.

thread should be "Erik Cole leading the Habs".

PERIOD.

:yo:

Theosis 01-15-2012 10:26 PM

But but, we should have shipped him out at the beginning of the season like everyone wanted!

Always liked him, great teammate and a great player that gives his best effort every shift.

Poulet Kostopoulos 01-15-2012 10:29 PM

Just wanted to point out that it is PG who acquired Cole. But yeah, doesn't matter, he sucks (because not all his moves have been instant homeruns), fire him!

yes fire him

we don't need size at all

we must be soft and small

that's how you win

:sarcasm:

:sarcasm:

Since the sarcasm indicates that you think the opposite of that post, my guess is Gauthier would agree with you.
  • Drafts Tinordi 6'6
  • Trades for Eller(6'2) and Schultz(6'2) and specifically cites that he did so because the habs needed size and that Schultz brings a unique element.
  • Acquires Cole (6'2)
  • Trades Russell(small forward) for Blunden (6'4)
  • Trades Cammalleri(Small forward) for Bourque (6'2)
  • Brings in Emelin (6'2)
