[Moen & Nokelainen missed practice due to upper body injuries. Bourque is out with the flu. White is back to full-contact, uncertain for Wednesday]

But when asked how long it will be before White is back in the lineup, nobody can venture a guess other than to confirm that White is unlikely to see any action before next weekend's All-Star break.

"I should be getting closer to skating with the team," White said Tuesday.

Gionta underwent successful surgery to repair a tear in the right biceps. He will be out indefinitely. The surgery was performed earlier today in Montreal.

Captain Brian Gionta won’t accompany the team to Boston after suffering an upper-body injury in Tuesday night’s game against the Blues. Injured center Scott Gomez has not yet been cleared by the medical staff but he will make the trip to Boston.

Ryan White is still skating alone with Canadiens strength and conditioning coach Pierre Allard but is hoping to join his teammates on the ice for practices in the near future.

“I hope so. It’s getting boring out there just me and Petey,” joked White. “I feel pretty good but I don’t feel 100% and I don’t feel I’m back where I need to be. It’s going the right way and I’m feeling better than I was last week and I just want to keep that going the right way.”

According to Stubbs on Twitter, Gomez is back in the line-up sometime this week. He's practicing full contact. Patches is out with the flu, so Gomez is skating with DD & Cole.

Considering Gomez hasn't played in a long time, I'd stick him on the 4th line and bench Campoli.

It'll be interesting to see how RC works the lines/roster with Gomer back.

Does Markov play 25 games this year?

over / under ?

I'll go all in on the under

Apparantly he's not skating. That's a sucker bet.

FeelsLike93 01-18-2012 12:28 AM

Since Markovs not expected back before the All Star Break, does that mean hes expected back shortly after lol? Hopefully no more then 2 weeks after but at this point no one knows forsure until we see him on the ice during the game.

Et le But 01-18-2012 12:49 AM

I'd be happy to see Markov play (and survive) a week this season.

MR MARKOV

Quote:

The question now is: Which All-Star break? While there have been no official updates on Markov's condition for a while, Cunneyworth noted Tuesday that Markov has not been on skates since the arthroscopy.

There can be no discussion about a return date until Markov laces them up, but it will be a surprise if Markov plays any games this season.

Monctonscout 01-18-2012 07:16 AM

There has to be some kind of smokescreen with Markov. No way in hell arthroscopic surgery to "clean up the knee" puts a guy off skates for 6 weeks, that's just plain ridiculous.

Either the surgery was a major one or there is something else going on.

HardcoreHab 01-18-2012 10:20 AM

The whole Markov thing was annoying at first, but now it's just stupid. As far as I'm concerned, Andrei Markov is done. I'm also going to assume that in the event that he ever does come back, it won't be the same Andrei Markov that we remember so who cares. If I'm proven wrong, I'll gladly snack on some crow.

I'm looking forward to getting Ryan White back. He's not going to make any significant impact on this team, but I like the way he plays. He fits into the style I think the Habs are leaning towards since bringing in Cole, Emelin and now Bourque.

Markov :(...miss ya buddy come back soon!!

Maybe, but the med staff has to be 100% accountable on this...

from two months, to three, to five, etc...

at some point, you expect ONE doctor to "get it right"...

If anything, the screw ups (so to speak) by the Doc may explain in part why PG went after Campoli at the beginning of the season (thinking it would be for more or less 2 months) and later on traded for Kaberle (realizing it could be VERY long)...

Wether we think trading for Kabs was the right move or not... I dont think PG trades for his 3 years contract if it's to take Markov spot for just a few weeks...

donghabs98 01-18-2012 02:30 PM

After All star Game

PG-We expect Mr.Markov to fully be back after the Trade deadline

Trade deadline

PG-We epect Mr.Markov to be back before April

April

PG-We fully epext Mr.Markov to be back before the start on next season

:D

Aurel Joliat 01-18-2012 02:39 PM

We really miss him. Ryan White is the man !!

kassian 01-18-2012 02:40 PM

All I'm looking forward is seeing Ryan White's hair on the ice this season. I couldn't care less about Markov at this point. The guy's either done or comes back with rust on his limbs. I love how back in August, there were speculations about Markov playing on the opening night and now in January, he's not even guaranteed to play this season. It's obvious this organization deceived people on the Markie situation.

Team_Spirit 01-18-2012 04:58 PM

Ryan White back soon? Yesssssssssssssssssssssss

There's an empty name plate on his left. Hossa? :scared:

Thinkbig 01-18-2012 05:12 PM

you guys hype White the same way you did with Campoli... they are nothing special calm the **** down.

zzoo 01-18-2012 06:00 PM

I think some of us have way too much high expecation for White. Even if he's fully healthy, I don't think that he could contribute that much. At best, he's a bit better than Nokeleinen.

The fact that he has missed a lot of games.

I really don't understand why there has to be some sort of conspiracy instead of accepting that there's just been further complications. The gamble wasn't the contract - I'll be shocked if Markov isn't forced to take a medical requirement over the summer, the gamble was in putting together a young defense corps without him. If Gauthier should be blamed for anything, it's that.
