I know Darryl isn’t going to be, and we’re not either, but certainly it’s a good road trip and a great win tonight. (on the back-and-forth nature of the game…) That’s certainly what it was. We had a great first period, and we knew they certainly weren’t going to go away. Their power play is a huge source of confidence for them. They were able to get one off of our penalties. There were definitely some momentum switches both ways. The goalies were great. I’m glad we finally got one in the shootout. (on his goal…) It’s no secret that I’ve been kind of pressing a little bit, trying to get pucks in the net, and I was happy to get a rebound go in on that one and help the team, especially on the power play. (on whether the Kings were due to win a shootout…) I certainly feel like we were, yeah. Darryl has been switching it up, just based on feel a lot. We were able to get two out of three tonight, and I think that’s usually going to be good for Quickie. (on the good first period…) I think you’re only as good as your last game, and we certainly knew we needed to come back with a little bit of snarl. We lost in Edmonton, and you need to have that mentality that we lost the last game, so we’ve got to come out and push. So we certainly had the start we wanted. We got the first goal. We played with the lead and, as I said before, we felt we were due in the shootout, so we finally got one there."

We were shooting the puck a lot. Luongo made some good saves but we stuck with it and we got the win. (on rolling four lines with success…) That’s why we can put that pressure, I think, in the first period, because we play four lines and six D. Three in four nights is sometimes tough, but when you spread the ice time out, and you don’t have a lot of players playing over 20 minutes, I think it obviously allows you to be more fresh, especially late in the third period and in overtime. (on scoring his shootout goal…) When it went in, it was more relief than anything. (on the game…) It was good to see us play good defense. We got a couple of goals and played well enough to win the hockey game."

I call these games, when you come back off the road and have a little bit of success, and it’s close to the All-Star break, your first game back at home, it’s a trap game. A mental trap. It’s up to some of us older players to make sure guys are ready and focused."

They blocked a lot of shots and Luongo made some good saves. (on changing the shootout lineup…) Pretty much I had just stuck with they had had success with before. In our last two or three, the bottom line is that success in shootouts is winning it. Willy [Justin Williams] has been hot. Johnny [Jack Johnson] is a guy who, I think he’s only had one, but he scored before. Mike is a clutch guy. (on the odd-man attacks…) I’m sure if you talked to them, they wouldn’t want odd-man rushes against them. You try to come up with ways to get them. At the end of the day, most of them are battles on the boards, to create them. (on the Kings’ puck support…) We are trying to get our centermen to continue to be better players in our zone. When you play a team like Vancouver, and they have those three guys up the middle, Sedin, Kesler and Hodgson, you better have your hammer cocked. (on Jonathan Quick’s game…) He was fine. I think both goalies kept it a 2-2 game. (on Vancouver’s game-tying goal…) We just have to be quicker moving the puck. We had an opportunity to move it behind the net, and didn’t. Against a team like that, they’re going to turn the puck over, and that’s all that matters. (on scoring a power-play goal…) We talked about how Vancouver takes a lot of penalties, and you have to try to cash in. Shot, rebound. (on getting five of a possible six points on the trip…) If we would have been right on top of it in Edmonton… That was a tough turnaround. That was poor scheduling, when you play at 8 (p.m.) and then 6. You play two games in, really, less than a day. That makes it hard on you on the road."

"Been there and done that. We’ve had two trips with tough travel, back-to-backs. It didn’t effect us then and it shouldn’t effect us now. It’s really got no bearing on anything, quite honestly. The schedule, you’ve got to break it (down). You’ve got these three games and then you’ve got your break and then a long trip, and you’ve got six back-to-backs in there. There’s lots of ways to keep a tighter focus, rather than being concerned about what you just did. If we had played in Vancouver and lost, then you’d ask about, how do you rebound. [laughs] So, really, that’s not the way it works. The teams are so close that you’ve just got to concentrate on what you can manage." (That said, Sutter clearly isn’t a fan of the Kings’ schedule, and it is a bit wacky. The season has included a start in Europe — don’t forget those two “home’’ games — followed by a week off. Now, coming up, there’s an eight-day midseason break, followed soon after by the annual “Grammy Trip’’ that will keep the team away from Los Angeles for parts of 11 days.) "This schedule is borderline crazy. With the way they started in Europe and the home and away part of it, and the length of some of the trips and the travel that is involved, with the border crossings. The next one, you go to New York and then Dallas. We just came off an 8 o’clock game and then a 6 o’clock game. They [players] aren’t machines. When I came in, I told the guys, `I’m going to give you every break, physically. You have to be there in the brain part.’ That’s how you’ve got to look at it in the long term. The successful teams, that’s what they do. They have to trust their training, and what they do for 12 months, what they do the day before the game and the day after the game. You have to set your team up, so that when they start training on the first of July, they’re getting prepared for back-to-backs and travel and time zones. That’s what you have to do when you’re on the West Coast, or Dallas or somewhere like that."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Nope. We have the most loser points in the league, we need to put ourselves in a great position before we finish off with a slew of games against divisional opponents. I want a winning streak of regulation victories.

We need to have 60 points before the All Star break.

The Kings are starting to put a little distance between themselves and 9th place. That needs to continue tonight.
