3 Stars and GBR: #45 @ Pittsburgh
Not going to bother with a poll.
|
PoTG: Nobody
Good: Hagelin and Gaborik showing signs of life. Bad: Lundqvist Redden: Everyone else Richards: Richards. |
Hagelin was the best player for us tonight. Definitely
|
Good: Hagelin, and also Philly losing to Islanders
Bad: Just about everything Redden: **** Malkin |
No thanks I'd rather naht.
Awful. Of course, Boston had to come back and beat the devils. Could have been a 7 point lead on them with a win on Sunday.... Just win the next two, and please, bench Richards for a game or two. |
meh team is going through struggles, rather now than close to playoff time.......even Detroit lost a ton in a row, this is just win one , lose win..........
|
POtG: No one
Good: Nothing Bad: Everything Ugly: Everything + more Dear Jim Dolan, If you were to ever walk across my path when I was in my car, I would Marsellus Wallace your ass. But being that you probably won't, I hope you slide under a gas truck and taste your ****ing own blood. Go back to ignoring us you fat ugly d*uche. Signed, Tony |
I've said it for quite a while now and have stuck to my statement whether we're winning or losing. We need another 30 goal scorer. I don't know who or who but while I have ideas I'll leave it up to Sather.
There isn't enough consistent offense to be a cup contending team IMO. |

The second goal was a bad angle shot, one that Lundqvist probably should have had, but the last person you should blame on a 3-on-1 goal is the goaltender (when a 3-on-1 occurs, something has fundamentally went wrong). The third goal, Malkin, skated past a flailing Del Zotto, went to his back hand and roofed it on a nasty shot that would have beaten any goaltender in the NHL. I just don't see how he was bad. He let up 3 goals on 36 shots and he didn't have a chance on 2 of them. |

With the addition of "Richards" to the post-game analysis, it gives Lundqvist an average game, right in the middle. |

We get down a couple and it seems like we're done. |
Brad Richards sucks. That is all.
|
1. Staal-Del Zotto pairing was "an adventure"
2. The PP failure is at a near statistically impossible point. 3. If AA's shot was a weapon, it would be a 1700s musket. Slowest release ever. Bad games happen. Put it in the rearview and make a statement Saturday. |

John Tortorella at the post-game press conference: "I'm not going to critique the players."
I don't like that. Isn't that what you're there for? |
Torts deserves some blame for the asinine move of putting cally with Brian the black hole Boyle. we had two 4th lines,!a third line with Prust on Richards wing and steps line which was good. Also staal had an aweful game. Feds needs a night off. Hank was meh. That 2nd goal was the game and it should have been stopped. F Jim Dolan.

Boyle led the team with 6 hits tonight? Really? Does it count as hit for Boyle when he just leans on you, because of his size? Because Boyle is a soft hockey player.

POTG: Hagelin. Really it.
Bad: Everyone Redden: Staal and Richards. Richards looks lost. Turnover after turnover, awful defensively, missed shots wide, etc. |
Surprised Staal isn't getting more heat here. Seemed to me like he was directly responsible for both of the last two goals (bad pinch on the first and bad turnover on the second). Then again I was watching at a sports bar with no sound.
|
Good = Hagelin, McD, Girardi, Dubinsky
Bad = Referees, Coaching, Cally, Richards (almost a Wade), Boyle in the offensive zone... Redden = Staal´s gaffes hopefully Staal shakes it off as we move on ahead. I think he is not ready for the role the coach gave him tonight. Yet. Rather give some more minutes to Bickel/Strålman. We were winning when they carried the load, no reason to play Staal this way in this kind of game. Too early. Play him when we lead/lose by 2-3 goals for 20+ minutes, not now. Bad coaching imo - anyone can see he is not ready to step up yet, his pinch was way off timed and his soccer play was bad at best... |
POTG-Hagelin is going to be a good player.
Good-Dubinsky looked like he wanted the puck tonight. Bad-Torts can't compete with Bylsma. He gets outcoached everytime. Pitts. left forwards high to keep out d-men from pinching, knew where our outlet passes were going. This is what happens when you play the same game every night. *hint hint* Redden-Richards is lost. Gaborik the last few games is playing like last year. He needs to watch video of his play from last year |
I said it in the game thread but Tortorella has to stop relying on guys like Prust so much. Yes, I get it, he works hard and is a good player for what he can do, but he just should not be on a scoring line. He looks completely out of place on one and all he does is hang out on the boards to cycle the puck, he has no offensive ability on the cycle at all.
This team isn't that bad offensively, Tortorella needs to figure out what the problem is at the moment because they can't just keep getting good offensive players and developing guys with good upside and then saying "whelp we're just not a good offensive team gotta win 1 goal games". Stop it. Gaborik and Richards and to a lesser extent Callahan and Dubinsky and Stepan and Anisimov are all skilled enough to make this a pretty decent team on offense, but they're all struggling and it does not help them to be put with guys who can't score at all. |
